During the Safe Rivers Operation, on the morning of this Wednesday (14), military personnel from the 28th Independent Military Police Company (28th CIPM) arrested a man carrying 48.518 kilograms of drugs at the Port of Juruti, a municipality in the Lower Amazon Integration Region, in western Pará.

The Safe Rivers Operation, coordinated by the General Operations Department (DGO) and the Regional Police Command I, under the responsibility of the 28th CIPM, has stood out in combating crime in the region. Aimed at repressing criminal offenses, especially interstate drug trafficking, the Operation is carried out in partnership with the Integrated Candiru River Base, a strategic investment by the Government of Pará to strengthen public safety in the river network. The Base operates on the Amazon River, in the municipality of Óbidos.

“With the state government's investment in the implementation of the Candiru Base, a diversion in the trafficking route to Juruti was observed, making it essential to intensify inspections on vessels operating on the Manaus (AM)-Juruti route, reinforcing the commitment of security forces to protect the riverside population and the integrity of the waterways,” informed 1st Lieutenant Fuziel.

Combating Trafficking - During the inspection of the vessel, police found in a passenger's luggage 848 grams of a substance similar to crack cocaine and 47.670 kg of another material, similar to skunk. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Civil Police Station for the necessary legal proceedings.

The Operation demonstrates the state government's determination, through the Military Police, to combat drug trafficking in the region, providing well-being and security to the population.
