Teams operating from Base Candiru, located in Óbidos and coordinated by the Pará State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), seized approximately 17.7 kg of drugs, including cocaine and marijuana, on the night of Tuesday (14) from a vessel originating from Manaus heading to Belém. The drugs were hidden in the body of a “trailer” type vehicle identified with the help of the police dog Isis.

"The inspections carried out by the integrated teams from Base Candiru have resulted in daily seizures and actions on vessels crossing the Amazon River, enabling us to effectively combat trafficking in our region, considering that our river network is one of the routes used for this type of crime. It is also important to highlight the assistance of our sniffer dogs that can identify these drugs, effectively aiding our efforts in combating organized crime,” emphasized the Secretary of Public Security of Pará, Ualame Machado.

Agents from the River Group, together with agents from the Military Police and Civil Police, conducted a routine inspection on the vessel E/M João Gabriel, which was coming from the city of Manaus heading to Belém. During the approach, the sniffer dog “Isis” from the Military Police identified 17 packages of drugs in the body of a vehicle, containing approximately 3.332kg of cocaine and 14.427kg of marijuana, totaling 17.759kg of drugs.

The material was seized and presented to the Civil Police team stationed at Base Candiru, where it undergoes the necessary procedures.
