Polyclinic/Natea Carajás in Marabá Completes 30 Days with Over 3,700 Appointments
The Pará State Government unit has already recorded over 1,000 specialized consultations and 2,700 exams in just one month of operation, benefiting the population of southeastern Pará.
Delivered by the Government of Pará aiming to expand access to specialized health in the southeastern region, the Polyclinic/Natea Carajás Miguel Chamon, in Marabá, in its first month of operation, has already performed over 3,700 appointments, including specialized medical consultations and laboratory and imaging exams.
Until last Wednesday (7), when it completed 30 days of services to the population, the unit ensured users more than 1,000 specialized consultations in areas such as orthopedics, cardiology, gynecology, urology, and otorhinolaryngology. The unit also surpassed the mark of 2,000 exams, including laboratory and imaging procedures, with a highlight on ultrasounds, CT scans, X-rays, electrocardiograms, and bone densitometry, which are among the most requested.

Commitment - The head of the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), Ivete Gadelha Vaz, highlighted that the Polyclinic/Natea is a concrete expression of the government's commitment to the regionalization of health and comprehensive care for the population. "In just one month of operation, the numbers already demonstrate the positive impact of the unit for Marabá and neighboring municipalities. We will continue to advance to ensure that more people have access to specialized and quality health services," she emphasized.

Approved Service - The Polyclinic/Natea Carajás is already making a difference in the lives of those who need specialized care. A resident of Marabá, in the Carajás Integration Region, Dieli Pinheiro was one of the patients benefited by the unit. Referred for a gynecological consultation, she also underwent laboratory tests on the same day, optimizing the diagnosis. "The service was quick and very respectful. I received great guidance from the doctor, who requested tests to better investigate my case. The collection was done on the same day. It is comforting to know that we have such an accessible service close to home," said Dieli.

Another person who approved the service was Nataly Batista, a resident of Abel Figueiredo, in the same region, who took her son Huan Carlos, 4 years old, for a consultation with the pediatrician. In addition to the medical evaluation, he underwent laboratory tests. "The consultation was excellent. The doctor was attentive to my son. He needed to do tests and we managed to resolve everything right here, which makes a difference for those coming from afar," she said.
Offered Services - With an emphasis on specialized care and comprehensive care, the Polyclinic/Natea Carajás offers a wide variety of services, facilitating the population's access to accurate diagnoses and quality treatments. Currently, the unit offers 33 medical and multiprofessional specialties.
The executive director of the Polyclinic, Joabe Lopes, also highlighted the positive impact of the first month of operation of the unit and the challenges faced. "It was a month of intense learning and overcoming. Despite the natural difficulties that arise with the inauguration of a new service, we managed to achieve a significant number of appointments and provide the population with quality assistance," informed the professional.

The structure of the Polyclinic also allows for low-complexity surgical procedures and has a Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder Care (Natea). In the diagnostic area, more than 25 types of exams are performed, from laboratory analyses to imaging tests, such as magnetic resonance imaging, essential for efficient care.

Regulation - The appointments at the Polyclinic are regulated by the State Regulation Center, under the responsibility of the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). To access the services, the citizen must seek a Basic Health Unit in their municipality. After evaluation, the health professional will provide the necessary referral. Then, the patient must present the referral document and their personal data to the Municipal Health Department, which will register and schedule in the State Regulation System.
The unit is equipped to serve the population of municipalities in the region, such as Bom Jesus do Tocantins, Brejo Grande do Araguaia, Canaã dos Carajás, Curionópolis, Eldorado do Carajás, Marabá, Palestina do Pará, Parauapebas, Piçarra, São Domingos do Araguaia, São Geraldo do Araguaia, and São João do Araguaia.
