In honor of Mother's Day, the Dr. Waldemar Penna Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas (HRBA), in Santarém, western Pará, held a special program for employees, patients, and companions of the unit. With activities focused on caring for and valuing mothers, the actions brought warmth, self-esteem, and well-being to those who are part of the hospital's daily life.

“Throughout the week, we carried out several actions to celebrate this important date. These moments bring comfort, love, and affection. It was very gratifying to see the participation of the mothers who work here, leaving their families to care for our users, as well as the companions and patients. We are taking care of those who care,” highlighted Karine Campos, HRBA's humanization supervisor.

Actions brought relaxation sessions to mothers

The first activity was a Beauty Day, with relaxing massage and facial hydration services offered by students from the Aesthetics and Cosmetology course at the Instituto Esperança de Ensino Superior (Iespes). The action involved companions and patients from the pediatric and oncology clinics.

“It was an enriching experience for both the students' training, promoting contact with the hospital environment, and for the patients, who were able to experience moments of well-being even during treatment,” explained the course coordinator, Marina Nicolau Taketomi.

Regina Silva de Farias, mother of little Joaquim, 8 years old, who was waiting for surgery, participated in the action and approved: “I had a facial hydration. It was very good, I liked it. Her hands are very soft.”

Maria José Borges, 60 years old, a resident of Itaituba and a patient at HRBA since November, also participated enthusiastically. A mother of six children, grandmother of 11 grandchildren, and great-grandmother of three, she received a back massage. “I liked it a lot, it was relaxing. I spend a lot of time lying down and my back hurts. Today, my children are far away, but they always visit me. I am very grateful for my family.”

Care and self-esteem - The beauty services also catered to employees, patients, and companions in another action organized with the support of Cenat Cursos e Treinamentos and hairdressers Maria Aguiar and Regina Vidalle. Haircuts, eyebrow design, manicures, massages, and other aesthetic care were offered.

Maria José Alves dos Santos, 69 years old, a user of the hospital for over 12 years, took the opportunity to refresh her look. “I thought it was great. Everyone treats me very well here, nurses, technicians. I liked it a lot.”

More tributes - HRBA also held a special breakfast for mothers receiving treatment in the wound outpatient clinic, with the distribution of gifts. In the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), mothers of hospitalized babies participated in a bingo game and received a picture frame with their child's photo as a gift.

“For us, Mother's Day is very special. We want all the mothers who are part of HRBA to feel valued and essential. That’s why we promote these actions with so much care. These are women who care and do everything for their children, and it is only fair to give back with beautiful moments,” emphasized the hospital's general director, Matheus Coutinho.
