Semas concludes training cycle in Forest Restoration across all regions of Pará
The State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (Semas), through the Regulariza Pará program, and in partnership with the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of Pará (Emater), has completed the training cycle in Forest Restoration, covering the five integration regions of the state.
The intensive course, which focused on the restoration of degraded areas and the environmental regularization of rural properties, trained 225 technicians, including extension agents from Emater, technicians from the municipal environmental agency of Altamira, and from environmental agencies in the states of Amazonas and Acre.
The initiative promoted courses in Belém, Bragança, Conceição do Araguaia, Altamira, and Santarém, and concluded the training this week, which ends this Saturday. The main objective was to strengthen forest restoration actions, with an emphasis on the implementation of agroforestry systems, as well as to generate an exchange of knowledge on best practices regarding the topic.
During the courses, participants learned modern techniques of ecological restoration and methodologies for the reconstitution of native vegetation, focusing on the Amazonian reality. The training included theoretical and practical classes, held in areas of family farmers, where various situations were analyzed. In addition, simulation dynamics for the recovery of Legal Reserve Areas (RL) and Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs) were conducted, addressing technical, legal, and public policy aspects.
The Deputy Secretary for Environmental Management and Regularity of Semas, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos, highlighted the importance of training for the advancement of public policy: “the training of extension agents is a strategic step to ensure that rural producers receive adequate guidance and can advance in environmental regularization processes with efficiency and technical safety. This training reinforces the commitment to the restoration agenda and contributes to meeting the goals of Regulariza Pará and the State Restoration Plan (PRVN), with a priority focus on family farmers.”
The course also pointed out the importance of qualified technical support in the preparation and execution of Projects for the Recomposition of Degraded and Altered Areas (PRADAs), essential instruments for environmental regularization within the scope of the Environmental Regularization Program (PRA).
Rosival Possidônio, technical director of Emater Pará, emphasized that the course was fundamental to meet growing demands. "The trained Emater professionals not only acquired more knowledge in forest restoration but will also be multipliers of this knowledge for other professionals in the institution," he stated.
The state program “Regulariza Pará” aims to implement actions that strengthen environmental regularization and forest restoration, with the support of the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) and Conservation International (CI), which operate within the scope of the Sustainable Landscapes of the Amazon Project (Amazon Sustainable Landscapes - ASL Brazil), partnerships that have been fundamental for the execution of plans and actions of state programs.
