In Marabá, mothers are honored with affection and care at the Regional Hospital
Clown therapy, music, and symbolic gift-giving marked the action dedicated to Mother's Day
The celebrations for Mother's Day started early at the Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará – Dr. Geraldo Veloso (HRSP), in Marabá. This Friday (10), the action "Mother's Smile, Gift of Love" brought care, music, hope, and joy to the mothers hospitalized and their companions in the unit.
Promoted by the Humanization Service of the hospital, with the support of the clown therapy group "Plantão do Amor", the initiative went through corridors and hospitalization units, providing moments of comfort, human connection, and emotional relief in an environment focused on comprehensive care.
Dressed in colorful lab coats and red noses, the clowns enchanted the audience with sensitive and humorous performances. To the soft sound of the violin, they blended art and affection, creating moments of lightness that moved patients, companions, and healthcare professionals.
Gerpina Moraes Cabral, 66 years old, a resident of Marabá and mother of three children, is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after surgery. She was touched by the tribute.
"It was a very beautiful surprise. We are here fighting to get better, and this gesture brought joy and hope to my heart. I felt welcomed and remembered as a mother," she stated.
Another mother touched by the action was Maria do Socorro, a resident of Itupiranga, in the Tucuruí Lake region. She is accompanying her son who is hospitalized for surgery.
"We who are here, accompanying a sick child, often forget that there is a special date like this. And today, this reminder came in the form of smiles and affection. It was very emotional," she reported, with teary eyes.
Humanization in care - One of the most symbolic moments of the action was the delivery of a mysterious gift: when they opened the package, the mothers found a mirror. The proposal was more than a symbolic gesture, being an invitation to reflect on their own worth.
"We wanted each mother to realize that inside that box, there was something rare, precious, and of inestimable value: herself. The idea was to show that she is the greatest gift, with all her strength, dedication, and love. Each mirror handed out reinforced this message, so they could look and recognize how unique and irreplaceable they are," explained Karine Zucateli, Dr. Cotton Candy, one of the coordinators of the Plantão do Amor group, formed by students from the Faculty of Medicine of Pará (Facimpa).
According to Karine, the proposal of clown therapy goes beyond entertainment. "We believe that laughter has a transformative power. It welcomes, alleviates, and often heals. And a mother's love is undoubtedly one of the most potent forces that exist. Today, we came to remind these women of their importance and to say, with affection and lightness, that they are not alone," she emphasized.
Commitment to care
The action at the Regional Hospital of Marabá, managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), is part of the calendar of activities aimed at humanizing care promoted throughout the year by the Pará Government unit.
For Daiane Uszynski, humanization analyst at the hospital, initiatives like this play a fundamental role in the recovery process of patients and in strengthening emotional bonds within the hospital environment.
"The care we offer goes far beyond technical procedures. It is present in sensitive listening, genuine welcome, and valuing each person's story. Today's tribute is a symbolic gesture, yes, but it is also a concrete manifestation of our commitment to a more empathetic care that sees the human being as a whole," she stated.
According to Daiane, the tributes to mothers will continue until Sunday (12), with other actions planned to celebrate and recognize the importance of maternal presence in the hospital context.
"We want every mother, whether a patient or a companion, to feel welcomed and valued. Even in a moment of fragility, it is possible to offer affection, lightness, and gratitude. Our mission is to transform the care environment into a space where love is also part of the therapy," she concluded.
Structure - The unit is a reference for the region, offering 100% of services through the Unified Health System (SUS). The hospital has 135 beds, with 97 allocated for clinical hospitalization and 38 dedicated to Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (ICU).
