Pará highlights Bioeconomy Plan at climate coverage event
During the event "Trails of climate coverage", Semas presented actions from PlanBio, a monitoring platform and advancements in the works of the Amazon Bioeconomy Park
The State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability of Pará (Semas) participated, on Thursday (8), in the event "Trails of climate coverage", held at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará (FIEPA), in Belém. Represented by the Deputy Secretary of Bioeconomy, Camille Bemerguy, Semas presented the actions of the Bioeconomy Plan (PlanBio) and the advancements of the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park.
Focusing on the discussion "Bioeconomy in the Amazon: an economy that works and the next challenges", the meeting was directed at communicators from the region and aimed to strengthen the connection between communication professionals and initiatives that promote knowledge about the Amazon in the nine states that make up the Legal Amazon.
Among the topics addressed, the main aspects of PlanBio stood out, which integrates the State Plan Amazon Now (PEAA) and is configured as one of the strategies for Pará's transition towards carbon neutrality. The event also presented the advancements of the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park, a project aimed at transforming the region into a hub for sustainable, scientific, and technological development.
"Pará was a pioneer in establishing a plan that combined an element of strategic and economic development at its core. And bioeconomy was conceived as one of those relevant strategies in this process. The plan was born as a development of the State Policy on Climate Change and the Amazon Now Plan, with the goal of transforming the state's economic base and making it carbon neutral by 2030," highlighted Camille Bemerguy.
Currently, PlanBio brings together 122 initiatives and is based on strengthening sustainable production chains, valuing traditional knowledge and local biodiversity.
During the meeting, the deputy secretary also presented the monitoring platform of PlanBio, available on the Semas website. The tool allows real-time tracking of actions, including the number of beneficiaries, invested amounts, and covered economic sectors.
"Nowadays we have 18 secretariats executing these actions. We launched the monitoring platform for PlanBio actions, where each of the secretariats inputs their information, actions, and provides a monthly update on how many people have been benefited, what projects are underway, and what amounts are involved. The platform also allows segmentation by audience: it is possible to see how many people have been impacted by the Bioeconomy Plan, how many belong to the PIQCTs, which sectors are being served, and what is the volume of business being catalyzed," she explained.
Another point addressed was the progress of the works of the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park. With 75% of the structure completed, the space will be the largest innovation complex in forest bioeconomy in Brazil. The proposal is to create an ecosystem that unites community businesses, startups, and industries focused on innovation for the implementation of PlanBio.
The park will integrate technological innovation, traditional knowledge, and sustainable entrepreneurship, valuing local communities, researchers, industries, and investors. The goal is to transform the sociobiodiversity of the Amazon into economic and social solutions aligned with environmental preservation.
