The public education in Pará is experiencing a phase of concrete advancements, a direct result of the priority that the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Education (Seduc), has given to the sector. This Tuesday (6), the State reaffirmed this commitment with the delivery of the new structure of the Augusto Meira State Full-Time School, located in the São Brás neighborhood in Belém. Completely rebuilt, the unit now offers a modern, safe, and welcoming space for over 500 high school students.

"This is a school that represents a new cycle for public education in our state. A full-time unit with 30 classrooms and 10 spaces dedicated to the Specialized Care Center for special education. The school was in a precarious situation, and the State decided to invest. Today, we have a complete structure, with qualified teachers and an environment prepared for excellent teaching. Now it is time to motivate the students and carry out great work. Augusto Meira becomes an example of public education in Pará," said Governor Helder Barbalho.

The new school will also play a strategic role during COP 30, the UN conference on climate change that will be held in Belém in November. The unit is among the 17 state schools that will serve as temporary accommodation in a hostel standard.

"This will be one of the schools that will receive visitors during COP 30, with all the structure that we are delivering today to public education in Pará. Long live Augusto Meira School, long live the school community, long live education in Pará!" added the governor.

Robust investment and cutting-edge structure

This is the 168th school delivered by the current state administration, totaling over R$ 10 million in investments. The new Augusto Meira has 30 classrooms, multidisciplinary environments for Languages, Mathematics, Human and Social Sciences, Arts, a sports court, computer and science laboratories, a swimming pool, library, theater, cafeteria, kitchen, bathrooms, rest rooms for students and teachers, as well as psychosocial support spaces, such as speech therapy, social assistance, psychology, and the High Abilities/Giftedness Center (NAAHS).

The unit also houses the Specialized Educational Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (NETEA), with adapted environments such as a pedagogical/psychomotricity room, storage area, and accessible bathrooms, in addition to the Art Center (NUARt) and the Family Alliance Center (NAF), aimed at strengthening the relationship between school and families.

Testimonials that reflect the transformation

Second-year high school student, Tárcylla Santos, highlights how the new structure directly influences student motivation. "The school is much more spacious. This will encourage our studies much more. The environment is clean, beautiful, and much better structured. I really liked the computer room and the rest room — very important for those who spend the whole day here. It gives energy to keep learning," she commented.

For João Pedro Cunha, a third-year student, the emotion is even greater due to family ties with the school. "It is very gratifying to see the school like this. I have been here since 2023, and the previous structure hindered our learning, even with good pedagogical work. Now we have computer and chemistry laboratories that will allow practical classes. This will greatly boost our development," he stated.

Innovation and sustainability as public policy

The Augusto Meira School also becomes home to the third unit of the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb), a space dedicated to the continuous training of teachers and the practice of innovative methodologies focused on sustainability, the environment, and climate.

The State Secretary of Education, Rossieli Soares, celebrated the delivery and highlighted the role of Ciseb. "The new building is fully equipped, and with the arrival of Ciseb and full-time education, we will have more pedagogical opportunities to train young protagonists. This unit is prepared to go beyond," he emphasized.

The other two Ciseb units operate at EEEM Marechal Cordeiro de Farias in Belém and at the Bilingual State School Mestra Idalina Rodrigues Pereira in Icoaraci.

For student João Pedro, Ciseb is a gateway to the future. "I believe it will prepare us better, with access to technologies and knowledge that make a difference in life and professional careers. Education is changing, and we are going along with it," he declared.

Full-time education expanding in Pará

The full-time education model, with a daily schedule of 9 or 7 hours, guarantees students three meals a day and complete pedagogical support to develop autonomy, solidarity, and competence.

"It is not just about spending more time at school, but about having a robust set of actions that strengthen learning and create bonds between students, teachers, and the school as a whole," Rossieli reinforced.

For 2025, Seduc has implemented 49 more schools in the Full-Time Education Program (PEI), totaling 161 units with this model. The impact is visible: in 2018, Pará had about 6,000 full-time students. In 2025, there are 48,000 enrollments, an eightfold increase in capacity.

With this advancement, Pará consolidates an educational model that combines excellence, equity, and innovation, preparing its youth for the challenges of the present and the future.
