The Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio) and the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (Semas) held a meeting on the Sustainable Territories Platform (PTS), aiming for a greater alignment regarding the ways the Institute can participate in the system, which means integrating participants of the Agroforestry Systems Program (PROSAF) into the PTS.

This measure will ensure that these potential beneficiaries served by the environmental agency have access to other public policies offered by the platform, particularly support for Environmental Regularization and Payments for Environmental Services (PSA), as well as the specialization of the areas of SAFs promoted by Ideflor-Bio.

During the meeting, new functionalities and mechanisms of the platform were discussed, which, in turn, is a management tool for the PTS, enabling greater integration among all actors related to the theme of forest restoration in the state (public authorities, private initiative, social organizations).

During the training, the Semas team presented and explained in detail the entire procedure for feeding the PTS, with data from farmers served by Ideflor-Bio, as well as the criteria for them to be eligible for the support lines offered through the PTS.

Integration - According to agronomist and manager of Production and Support for Forest Productive Arrangements, Laura Dias, the meeting was important to align the activities of the two agencies in the development of the program. “We presented to Semas a plan for aligning actions on this platform, as well as a survey of activities that have been carried out in the Sustainable Territories and the presentation of programs and projects that are part of the payment for environmental services,” she highlighted.

Laura Dias also emphasized that Semas detailed the Valoriza TS action, which deals with PSA, citing ongoing experiences and how farmers served by Ideflor-Bio could be included. So far, 17 farmers from PROSAF have been registered, of which ten have shown themselves eligible to participate in Valoriza TS.

The manager also emphasizes that “each technician will be registering producers from the Prosaf projects in each municipality of the state, to participate in the Sustainable Territories,” adds Laura Dias.

About the Program - The initiative “Sustainable Territories” is an action of the Government of Pará, coordinated by Semas, with the participation of Ideflor-Bio and other partners, aimed at materializing the State's objectives and goals in forest restoration, as well as maintaining green areas, such as strips of forests that share space with green agriculture.
