Anonymous tip to 181 helps in the arrest of a man investigated for homicide

A suspect of committing a homicide was caught in the act on Monday, 28, by civil police from the 10th Urban Section of Pedreira. The arrest occurred in the early hours of the morning at a residence in the Pedreira neighborhood in Belém, after anonymous information was passed to the official Disque-Denúncia 181 channel, linked to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup).

Crime - In the early hours of last Saturday (26), a homicide occurred on Travessa Antônio Baena, at the corner of Av. Pedro Miranda, when a man stabbed another man, who died at the scene. In light of the facts and the occurrence report, police teams from the Pedreira Section began investigative work to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the crime.

During the investigations and diligences, on Sunday (27), the official Disque-Denúncia channel received information about the suspect in the crime, as well as about the location where he could be found, with all information passed to the Civil Police team. The man was not at the indicated residence; however, this morning, the civil police returned to the reported location and successfully arrested the suspect in the act, who confessed to the crime and detailed the alleged motivation: the victim had stolen a bicycle.

After the arrest and all necessary procedures, the suspect was sent to the penitentiary system and is at the disposal of justice.

Therefore, we reinforce that anyone can make a report anonymously, thus having total confidentiality regarding their identity. Reports can lead to the elucidation of a crime that affects the entire society, and with this, we have another strong arm in the fight against crime with the fundamental participation of the population,” emphasized Ualame Machado.
