Detran agents save baby during patrol in Baixo Amazonas
Child was convulsing when revived during patrol

The quick action of a team of agents from the State Department of Transit (Detran) saved the life of a one-year-old child on Sunday (27) during a patrol on PA-370, in Mojuí dos Campos, in the Baixo Amazonas region.
During a routine patrol conducted at km 22 of the highway, the inspection agents were approached by a driver seeking help for her daughter who was convulsing inside the family vehicle. Inspection agent Luciane Budelon immediately began first aid procedures, performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers. The child, who showed no vital signs, was revived after a few minutes of care and began to breathe again.

Given the seriousness of the case, the Detran team headed towards the municipality of Santarém to reach the nearest emergency room. During the journey, the agents contacted the Integrated Operations Center (NIOP), which mobilized support for the assistance. In a quick response, the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) was directed to meet the vehicle.
Inspection agent Rodolfo Sales, who was driving the Detran vehicle at the time of the incident, highlighted the speed and effort of the team. "The child had no signs of life. During the journey to Santarém, we contacted NIOP, which informed us that SAMU was coming to meet us. Even at a considerable distance, agent Luciane provided continuous assistance, performing chest compressions and bringing the child back to life," he reported.

According to information from the mother, little Maria Ísis had a high fever since the morning and convulsed during the trip to the hospital. After the initial care by the agents, the child was handed over to SAMU for continued specialized medical care.
Detran emphasizes that, in addition to traffic inspection, its agents are trained to act in emergency situations, demonstrating the institution's commitment to protecting life.
