Amazônia Jazz Band celebrates 30 years with a night of Jazz classics
The show honors the 30 years of the band and International Jazz Day

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Amazônia Jazz Band will present the concert "Great Jazz Classics" next Wednesday (30) at 7 PM at the Teatro Margarida Schivasappa, Centur. Tickets will be available for sale at the venue's box office.
The initiative is promoted by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult), Theatro da Paz, and the Academia de Música Paraense (APM).
The evening coincides deliberately with International Jazz Day, celebrated on April 30. Tickets cost R$ 2 and can only be picked up at the theater's box office on the day of the concert.
With an authentic repertoire and conducted by maestro Eduardo Lima, the audience can expect an exciting night. In total, ten compositions will be performed at the Teatro Margarida Schivasappa.
The concert begins with saxophone arrangements that bring the song "In the Mood" by Joe Garland to life. Next up is "Moonlight Serenade" by Glenn Miller and Mitchell Parish; "Take Five" by Paul Desmond; among other melodies. The trilogy that closes the night includes: "Wave" by Antônio Carlos Jobim; "Indauê Tupã" by Paulo André and Ruy Barata; and "Anthropology" composed by Dizzy Gillespie and Charles Parker.
For saxophonist Vinícius Ribeiro, being part of the band is a source of pride. Through the AJB, he can bring jazz music to a diverse and welcoming audience. "It is gratifying to feel the vibe of the people in the audience. I am very proud to be part of this band that maintains ancestral traditions while also embracing contemporary elements that involve Jazz and popular music from Pará," he points out.
According to maestro Eduardo Lima, the concert in honor of International Jazz Day values the musical genre and its primary purpose: to create memories and engage with the audience through music. "I am sure the audience will feel a unique energy in this show. One of the characteristics of Jazz is Improvisation; and in this show, we will showcase the talent and skill of our musicians presenting great names of the genre," adds the maestro.

In 30 years of history, the Amazônia Jazz Band has become part of the emotional memory of the people of Pará and the North of the country, playing an important role in the democratization of culture in territories and cultural spaces, says the State Secretary of Culture, Ursula Vidal. "In addition to skillfully and cohesively conducting the international repertoire, the Amazônia Jazz Band is a cultural tool faithful to the Pará region, adapting global hits with arrangements of Pará and Brazilian music. The trajectory of AJB is recognized throughout the country and the world. It is a source of pride to have this public policy that ensures the appreciation of our artists and encourages public participation in theaters and cultural centers," concludes the manager.
