The Government of Pará continues to intensify investments in asphalt paving works that will be legacies from the United Nations Conference of the Parties, COP 30, which will take place in Belém in November 2025. The Mosqueiro district has already received more than 1.5 kilometers of new asphalt from the more than 6.6 kilometers that have been made available for the island. In total, 32 neighborhoods and districts in the capital of Pará will benefit.

In Mosqueiro, through the State Department of Public Works (Seop), paving services have been carried out on Vasco da Gama Street, Elna Trindade Street, Comandante Ernesto Dias Street, and Marahú Road, between Alameda Paraíso and Travessa Grão Pará. The roads will also receive sidewalk, curb, and signaling recovery work, which will ensure pedestrian safety and organize vehicle traffic.

"I pass by here every day on my way to work, and the situation was very difficult, with many holes and mud. When possible, we avoided passing through here due to the lack of safety, as there was a risk of the motorcycle breaking down. Now, it’s like a carpet. It’s something important not only for the residents of the street but for the population of Mosqueiro, who see the asphalt arriving," said Daniel Bernardo, a resident of Mosqueiro, highlighting the arrival of paving on Comandante Ernesto Dias Street.

The "Asphalt COP 30" works are carried out through an agreement between the State Government and the Federal Government, through Itaipu Binacional. In total, in Belém, 126 kilometers of asphalt paving services will be executed, with an investment of over R$ 166 million.

"The holding of COP 30 in Belém and the consequent investment in paving works was yet another opportunity for the Government of Pará to meet the needs of people suffering from mud and dust. It is a commitment of Governor Helder Barbalho's administration and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan to provide, more and more, improvements in people's living conditions, and this is also possible with the arrival of asphalt, which facilitates the daily lives of the population," highlighted Ruy Cabral, Secretary of Public Works.
