Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) promotes cultural exhibition about Japan
Activities begin next Monday, the 12th, and continue until January 30th, at the FCP headquarters on Gentil Bittencourt Avenue in Belém
Starting next Monday, the 12th, at the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) in Belém, a series of activities about Japanese culture will take place. Held in partnership with the Consulate of Japan in the capital of Pará, there will be an exhibition of calendars and Japanese dolls, origami workshops, a lecture on MEXT scholarships, and a film showcase. The program is free and will occur at the Arthur Vianna Public Library (BPAV) and the Líbero Luxardo Cinema.
At the Arthur Vianna Public Library, starting Monday, there will be an exhibition of calendars and Japanese dolls from January 12th to 30th. On the 22nd, also at BPAV, there will be a lecture on scholarships for those wishing to study in Japan. And on January 28th, an origami workshop will be held. The activities are free and do not require prior registration.
The event presents Japan within Belém, at the Cultural Foundation of Pará, and invites everyone for an immersion in the arts, styles, tastes, and the future of those interested in learning more about MEXT. The cultural exchange and the Brazil-Japan relationship is the focus of the exhibition, due to the strong ties that the two countries have. This is stated by Andréa Lima, advisor to the Consulate of Japan in Belém.
“The greater importance is the knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture, beyond films, animes, and mangas, and to show Japan - through the calendars (which is also a custom) - in a visually artistic way in the prints and styles of each calendar,” she points out. She emphasizes that the program prepares for the audience an exhibition that will transport those present to Japan, with art, beauty, and culture.
The acting coordinator of BPAV, Patrícia Ferreira, highlights that “the exhibition provides an approach to Japanese culture and the beauty of the country. Everyone is invited to come to the Arthur Vianna Public Library to travel and delight themselves through the Exhibition of Japanese Calendars,” she says.
CINEMA – At the Líbero Luxardo Cinema, from January 22nd to 28th, there will be a showcase of Japanese cinema. During this period, six productions from the land of the rising sun will be screened for free in two daily sessions, with original audio and Portuguese subtitles. The films are: Aristocrats, Fish Son, Ito, The Way to History, Oshin, and Second Chance.
No ticket is required, but seating is limited to the venue's capacity: 98 seats. Consumption of food and beverages inside the cinema hall is not allowed.
