To conclude the activities of the Blue November campaign 2025, the coordination team of the Regional Hospital Complex of Tucuruí (HRT) and Unacon (High Complexity Oncology Unit) organized, for the second consecutive year, the Blue Run, which this year took place last Saturday (29).

Not even the cold and rainy morning discouraged the runners, who accepted the challenge of covering five kilometers in search of the best placements in the 2nd Internal Run of HRT and Unacon, which this year had the theme "Taking Care of Health is a Sign of Love for Life." The initiative reinforced the importance of physical activity as an ally in promoting health and preventing diseases.

The event gathered 133 athletes - men and women, from various age groups. At the time of registration, each participant donated one kilogram of non-perishable food, destined for the Support House of the Baptist Church of Vila Permanente, in Tucuruí, which voluntarily welcomes patients undergoing treatment at Unacon.

Demystifying prejudices
Fear and prejudice still keep many men away from prevention. Gustavo Lima de Azevedo, 55 years old, a resident of the Paravoá neighborhood, participated in the run and emphasized: "I always try to keep my health up to date because of my age. I believe we should break this kind of taboo. When we take care of ourselves, we avoid and prevent many things. Health is essential for a healthy life." He also reinforced that "there is no right age to start taking care of health."

Laura Agripino Salatiel Gomes, 27 years old, a resident of Vila Permanente, participated in the Blue Run accompanying her husband, Paulo Gomes, 31 years old. She highlighted the importance of the initiative both for the prevention of diseases among men and for the charitable nature of the food collection. The Support House of the Baptist Church of Vila Permanente carries out essential volunteer work by welcoming patients and companions from other municipalities who are undergoing health treatment at Unacon, offering food and a place to stay.

This year, as highlighted by the general director of the Regional Hospital Complex of Tucuruí, Júnior Souto, the run has been an important ally in self-care and prostate cancer prevention. According to research, men who engage in physical activities have up to 30% lower chances of developing the disease.

The goal of the Blue November campaign is to raise awareness, especially among men, about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis not only of prostate cancer but also of other diseases that affect the male population. "The goal of the campaign is to combat the prejudice associated with preventive exams and promote men's health in a more comprehensive way, encouraging the performance of exams, eliminating prejudices, and expanding comprehensive attention to men's health," he emphasized.

Men should be alert to warning signs, such as difficulty or pain when urinating, blood in the urine, and back pain. Upon identifying any of these symptoms, it is essential to seek medical attention for the appropriate exams.

The winners of the run were:
Oberdan Nabica Caldas – Laundry Processing Service (Champion of the male category up to 40 years);
Emerson Costa do Espírito Santo – Quality Sector (Champion of the male category over 40 years);
Raquel Sousa da Silva – ICU (Champion of the female category up to 40 years);
Isabel Cabral Moreira – Hygiene and Cleaning Service (Champion of the female category over 40 years).
