Winners of the fourth edition of the Bope Race

With the participation of ten squads, wheelchair athletes, and the general public, the 4th Race of the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) energized Belém on Saturday (29). The event, already established in the corporation's sports calendar, reinforces the integration between the Military Police and the Pará society through sports, well-being, and the promotion of quality of life.

This year, the race recorded approximately 5,000 registrations, a number that, according to the organization, highlights the credibility and trust of the population in the work of the Military Police. Even on a weekend marked by a major national sports event, the Libertadores final between Flamengo and Palmeiras, the public significantly adhered to the program.

Two-time female champion of the Bope race, athlete Samanta Silveira celebrated another victory. “I have been running for ten years, but I started taking the competition more seriously about six years ago. The training is intense, every day. It’s not easy, but I am always improving. We need to be mentally well to complete the race because it’s a mix of physical and mental preparation. It’s not easy, but we come, do our best, and win. I am very happy with the achievement, representing my team. I am just grateful for everything,” said Samanta.

The overall male first place went to athlete Sidney Eugênio, who has dedicated himself to the athlete career for 17 years. “I have been maintaining an intense training load, prepared not only for this competition but also for others to come. Thank God, everything went well. I completed the race in 22 minutes. The weather was hot, which breaks the rhythm a bit, but I still managed to achieve my goal. It was a very positive result,” evaluated the athlete.

Athletes with disabilities received awards

Overcoming - In addition to the female and male categories, the program included awards for people with disabilities (PCD), valuing inclusion and recognizing the effort and overcoming of the athletes who participated in the race.

The commander-general of the Military Police, Colonel Sérgio Neves, emphasized the positive impact of the initiative on the daily lives of the military. “It’s a space to relieve the stress of the week, generate leisure, and strengthen physical conditioning, which is essential for our activity. Besides integration and strengthening the physical and emotional health of the staff, the race enhances the bond between the community and the Military Police, bringing together different profiles of participants in an environment of coexistence, encouragement of sports, and healthy practices,” he reinforced.

The commander of Bope and organizer of the event, Lieutenant Colonel Rocha, highlighted the scale of the mobilization necessary for the race's realization. According to him, “about 200 professionals worked directly in the organization to ensure safety and the smooth running of the activities.” “We achieved our goal of promoting this great gathering between society and Bope. Everything went as planned. This is the fourth edition, and we are very happy and honored to make this event happen,” he added.

The program included the participation of more than ten squads, including representatives from the Armed Forces, Military Fire Department, Cfap (Center for Training and Improvement of Ranks), Police Academy, and other institutions.
