Igepps prepares retirees for a long and healthy life
The program encourages inactive insured individuals to learn about their rights and tools for a dignified and social life in old age
The Institute of Social Security and Protection Management conducted another action aimed at promoting care, knowledge, and reflection on the aging process.
"Today's activity is the 'Conversation Wheels: Well-Living Retirement', initiated back in 2019, when we noticed the demand for greater proximity between retired employees and Igepps," explained Luzia Poça, psychologist at Igepps.
The meeting brought together retired insured individuals, creating a welcoming space for dialogue and exchange of experiences about the new challenges and possibilities of this phase of life.
The activity addressed essential themes for promoting active and healthy longevity. One of the central axes was the guarantee of the rights of the elderly, highlighting the importance of the Elderly Statute, public policies for social protection, and mechanisms for defense and autonomy. Participants were able to clarify doubts and learn more about the instruments that ensure dignity, respect, and social participation in old age.
"People I know who work here told me about the project, and I decided to come. I found it an interesting opportunity to rewrite my story, to be heard, and it has been very good, so much so that I am already participating in all the wheels that are happening," said Damaris Souza, a 64-year-old retiree from the Pará Socioeducational Foundation (Fasepa).
Another highlight was the reflection on longevity, understood not only as an increase in life expectancy but as an opportunity to build meaningful trajectories, well-being, and social bonds. Physical, emotional, and social aspects of aging were addressed, encouraging the adoption of healthy habits, strengthening support networks, and valuing life projects after retirement.
The conversation wheel also integrated discussions about the environment, recognizing that healthy aging is deeply related to sustainable environments and more inclusive cities. In the debates, topics such as air and water quality, access to green areas, urban mobility, and daily sustainability practices that contribute to health and well-being were discussed.
For Mrs. Dolores Valente, 68, the event allowed "a moment of communication among retirees, clarifying the reality we are living and getting to know the opportunities as retirees. The joy of being with people and exchanging experiences is enormous," she concluded.
The active participation of the group made the meeting a rich moment of sharing and collective knowledge building. The next edition of the Conversation Wheels program will be on December 18.
“Activities like this reinforce Igepps' commitment to promoting the quality of life of employees, encouraging comprehensive care, preparation for retirement, and valuing the elderly in society,” pointed out the president of the Institute, Washington Albuquerque.
