On this Wednesday (26), the head of the State Secretary of Education (Seduc), Ricardo Sefer, conducted a technical inspection at the Regional Education Directorate (DRE) of Santa Bárbara, Metropolitan Region of Belém. The program follows the schedule of technical visits that Seduc's management has been conducting with the aim of dialoguing and seeking pedagogical and structural improvements for the state public school units.

Secretary Ricardo Sefer emphasized the importance of these agendas as another strategy adopted to seek improvements in the quality of education in Pará. "On behalf of our leader and everyone who serves the public population, whether from the State or the municipality here in the region, I want to say that the visit is to show presence, it is partnership, so we can continue improving public education in Pará," said Sefer.

Santa Bárbara is the 26th DRE visited by the current management out of a total of 40 that will be covered. In the municipality, the visit began at the DRE headquarters, located at Dr. Pádua Costa School, with a meeting with the directors of the local educational units. Subsequently, the schools Santa Bárbara, José Machado, and the state school Colônia Chicano were visited. The head of the Regional Directorate, Rosiane Ferreira, reinforces the need for management's presence in schools.

“For us, it is of utmost importance for the secretary to come to the DRE to understand the local reality of the schools in Santa Bárbara and the schools in Mosqueiro, which is where our schools are jurisdictioned. Here in Santa Bárbara, we have five schools, two of which are in rural areas, schools with difficult access. And these are schools that, for a long time, were somewhat forgotten. And today, with the secretary being present, closer to each direction, listening and sharing with the students the needs and improvements as well, because we cannot only talk about the needs we have, but we also have many improvements in the schools. The schools did not have computers in the office, and today they are very happy because they are receiving his presence. The schools did not have Prodep (Program Money in the Paraense School) and now they have funds. So, we also have many good things to show the secretary. And for us, it is a unique moment to have the secretary going from school to school, seeing reality by reality,” said the manager.

Nicolly Roberta, student of the state school Dr. Pádua Costa

In total, the regional director manages twelve schools and approximately seven thousand enrolled students. The student Nicolly Roberta, from the 2nd year of high school, talks about the opportunity to report directly to the secretary of education the demands of the school. "It is a great opportunity because these problems are not new, and since the beginning of the classes, not only the students but also some teachers have been talking about this, about what is happening, the reality of the school. We need to adjust some points, such as the computer room, sports court, air conditioning, among other demands that we experience in our daily lives. Therefore, the expectation is that he looks more at the students and our school to help and solve these problems," highlights the student.

The mayor of Santa Bárbara, Marcus Leão Colares (Marcão), the municipal secretary of Education, Lene Carvalho, and councilors accompanied the secretary during the visits.

Continuing with the program, state deputy Gustavo Sefer accompanied the secretary on an agenda through the district of Mosqueiro, where the state schools Luiza de Barros Pires, Bruno de Menezes, Honorato Filgueiras, Inglês de Souza, and Padre Eduardo were visited.

By the end of 2025, the secretary of education will visit all 40 regional education offices with the focus on aligning and resolving infrastructure and educational demands for the well-being of the entire school community.
