On last Wednesday (19), the management of the Regional Public Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, in southeastern Pará, promoted a health education action in reference to "Blue November", a national campaign that reinforces the importance of prevention, early diagnosis, and comprehensive care for men's health, with a special focus on raising awareness about prostate cancer. The initiative was organized by the Human Resources department, through the Permanent Education Center (NEP), and gathered about 70 people, including users and companions, at the central reception of the unit.

For the nurse facilitating the action, Érica Amador, "the realization of educational lectures on men's health, especially during Blue November, is essential to break cultural barriers and promote quality information. There is still a lot of taboo when it comes to male care, and this makes many men seek help only when they already present more advanced symptoms," she emphasized.

The professional adds that educational actions on health directly contribute to changing this scenario: they bring the topic closer to the public, clarify doubts, and reinforce that prevention saves lives. "Health education has a direct impact on both quality of life and the reduction of diseases that could be avoided or diagnosed early," she concludes.

Approval - Roni Von Casais, 47, was one of the participants reached by HRPL's initiative. He comments that he has a close friend affected by prostate cancer and, therefore, believes that the "Blue November" campaign is essential to alert the population about the disease. "I take care of my health by observing myself, looking at myself, and going to the specialist if I notice any changes. Today's men are more careful about their health and more connected. This is great!" concluded the user, who was at the hospital for an ultrasound.

Data - According to the Ministry of Health, the number of prostate cancer-related consultations for men up to 49 years old increased by 32% between 2020 and 2024, rising from 2,500 to 3,300 procedures performed by the Unified Health System (SUS).
