Uruguayan Minister visits Usina da Paz and highlights Pará's model of citizenship
During a visit to UsiPaz Cabanagem, Tamara Paseyro points to TerPaz as inspiration for public policies in Uruguay
The Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning of Uruguay, Tamara Paseyro, visited the Usina da Paz in the Cabanagem neighborhood of Belém on Wednesday (19), where she closely observed the functioning of the complex and the public policy Territórios Pela Paz (TerPaz). In Belém to fulfill an agenda during COP30, the minister took the opportunity to learn about the model of Usinas da Paz, which has become a national and international reference in citizenship.
Accompanied by representatives of the Pará government, Paseyro toured the Usina's spaces, observing the integration between public services, cultural and sports activities, health actions, professional training, and security.
During the visit, the minister emphasized that the proposal demonstrates, in practice, how the constant presence of the State in vulnerable territories can transform realities and strengthen social bonds. She also highlighted the importance of the Pará model as inspiration for similar initiatives in her country.
“This is a government action that allows us to work with the most diverse communities, and we understand that this is the way forward. In Uruguay, we are implementing a similar project that seeks to work alongside communities, addressing insecurity and expanding services and infrastructure. Without a doubt, Usina da Paz is a very important reference for this project,” said Tamara Paseyro.
The Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga, emphasized the importance of international recognition of the project. According to her, the minister's presence reinforces the relevance of Usinas da Paz as a model of integrated public policy.
“The minister's presence reinforces how much the Usinas da Paz model has generated recognition beyond our borders. This is a project that arises from dialogue with communities and the understanding that public policies need to be where people live. Seeing other countries interested in learning about our experience shows that we are on the right path,” she concluded.
Recognition - The minister's visit reinforces the international recognition of Usinas da Paz and TerPaz as innovative public policies capable of integrating citizenship, social inclusion, and community development in territories historically marked by vulnerabilities.
