The 21st Battalion of the Military Police, linked to the Metropolitan Region Police Command (CPRM), carried out an operation on the night of this Monday (17) that resulted in the seizure of a firearm, drugs, ammunition, and the neutralization of a known criminal under investigation for criminal activities. The action took place around 6 PM in the Parque Verde neighborhood, in Marituba, metropolitan region of Belém.

The intervention began after the commander of the 21st BPM received information that armed men were trafficking drugs inside a housing complex in the area. Based on the report, Operation Trojan Horse was initiated, with teams directed to the indicated location.

Upon arriving at the scene, the military personnel spotted some suspects fleeing. During the pursuit, one of the men ran into an apartment block, pointing a firearm at the teams. Faced with the threat, the police had to intervene. The criminal was hit, rescued alive, and taken to the UPA of Marituba, but did not survive the injuries.

With him, the police found a backpack containing a .40 caliber pistol with the serial number filed off, three magazines, 34 rounds of the same caliber, six .38 caliber rounds, about 250 grams of cocaine, 250 grams of skank, a Xiaomi cellphone, and a precision scale. The man, known as “Pato Rouco,” is identified as a leader of a criminal group, with a history of homicides and wanted in a police operation in Morro da Penha, Rio de Janeiro.

The commander of the CPRM, Colonel Arthur Silva, highlighted the importance of the operation for the security of the region. “The action carried out today demonstrates the commitment of the 21st BPM and all of CPRM to the protection of the population. We received information about criminal activity within the condominium and immediately launched a precise, technical, and necessary operation. The seizure of weapons, drugs, and ammunition, combined with the neutralization of an extremely dangerous criminal, highlights the risk our police officers are exposed to daily. We will remain firm, vigilant, and active to prevent the advance of crime in the Metropolitan Region,” he stated.

The occurrence was presented at the competent civil police unit, where the seized materials were made available to the Justice.
