The Government of the State of Pará has completed the preparation of the Centennial Convention Center, on Augusto Montenegro Avenue, in Belém, to host the Pará-Municipal Pavilion during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will take place from November 17 to 21. For the first time, all municipalities of a Brazilian state will have their own standardized space at an international climate conference, reinforcing Pará's prominence in the global environmental agenda.

The booths, made with sustainable materials, will showcase municipal portfolios with sustainability, culture, tourism, and economic potential initiatives. The structure will also include technical programming, a Show Kitchen with municipal chefs, cultural presentations, a food court, discussion circles, and a podcast studio. Admission is free.

Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, coordinator of the State Committee for COP30, reinforced the invitation to the public. “Many people ask where they can buy handicrafts from Pará. Now they know: at the Municipal Pavilion, it will be possible to access handicrafts from the entire state. Starting on the 17th, we expect everyone to come and explore the space, which will feature many cultural attractions and a bit of each municipality showing that all of Pará is at COP30,” she stated.

Sustainable tourism and waste management

The municipality of Benevides will have a prominent participation by presenting its sustainability actions. “In addition to Benevides Recicla, the largest waste management program in the Northern Region, nationally recognized by the Immensità Environmental Awareness Award, we arrive at COP showcasing the strength of our sustainable tourism, with landscapes that preserve the Amazonian essence, trails that connect visitors to nature, and cultural experiences that value our identity,” emphasized the municipal secretary of Environment and Tourism, Welton Neves.

He reinforced the municipality's positive expectations regarding the conference. “Together, ecotourism, conservation, and environmental innovation demonstrate that Benevides is growing responsibly, uniting development, protection of natural resources, and quality of life for our people. We are optimistic about the positive impacts that COP30 will bring to the municipality's tourism, both now and in the post-conference period,” he added.

Integrated model of production and conservation

The municipality of Tomé-Açu, recognized for the influence of the Japanese colony, family farming, and nature and culture tourism, will also bring its experiences and potentialities to the pavilion. “We arrive at the space with our hearts full of pride and a firm commitment to sustainability. We will show the world that it is possible to produce local handicrafts while preserving, growing, respecting, transforming, and caring for our forest. Our municipality is truly green, a living example that development and the environment can walk hand in hand. The expectations are the best possible: we want to inspire, learn, and reaffirm that Pará has in Tomé-Açu a model for a sustainable future for Brazil and the world,” stated Mayor Carlos da Vila Nova.
