In addition to the characteristic public success of the project 'A Night at the Museum', this Friday's edition (14) had a special touch with the movement of COP30 in the capital of Pará. New museums, restructured spaces, tourists, and exhibitions focused on environmental issues kept the museums crowded until 10 PM. Only in the spaces managed by the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult) were there more than 17,600 visitors.

“The project has always had a great adherence from the city, and in this edition, it integrates into a moment of great cultural effervescence, due to COP30 itself, and the museums are in full activity, with occupations and exhibitions. The museum has this role, to awaken a critical consciousness, and from the themes that are addressed at COP, we have several exhibitions related to climate change, the environment, sustainability, and forest preservation,” points out the director of the Integrated System of Museums and Memorials (SIMM), Armando Sobral.

In addition to the SIMM spaces, this edition of the circuit also included the Caixa Cultural Belém, the Cultural Center of the Banco da Amazônia (BASA), the Historical and Geographical Institute of Pará (IHGP), and the Museum of the Federal University of Pará and the Art Gallery (GAU) of UFPA, in the Mercedários Complex.

“What a joy to register our participation in 'A Night at the Museum', we have our exhibitions from Mercedários, one made by UFPA, one by Casa BNDES. It is an honor to see that our city has so many cultural spaces put at the service of the population, congratulations to the state secretary of culture, Ursula Vidal, for her firm work in defense of the culture of our state,” comments the rector of the Federal University of Pará, Gilmar Pereira.

“It was a huge pleasure to receive the invitation from Ursula Vidal, our Secretary of Culture, to join 'A Night at the Museum', participating in this is incredible. We are opening the art gallery of UFPA in this COP30 scenario with an exhibition called 'Terra incógnita – Notas Amazonianas', bringing a selection from UFPA's Amazonian collection, which looks at this region from within. Not all the artists were born here; they are from various places in the country, even from abroad, but they came here and had a strong impact on living with this region and created works that became part of the collection,” says Orlando Maneschy, one of the curators of the exhibition and director of the Art Gallery of UFPA (GAU).

Professor Maria do Carmo Rabelo took advantage of Friday night to visit the Casa Vozes do Oceano, at the Casa das Onze Janelas, accompanied by her husband. “It was very good, as a teacher, to see this issue of environmental awareness so well addressed. This immersion is very good because it aims at our consciousness,” says the professor who toured a good part of the museums in the circuit.

Cristiane Andreson, a social worker, enjoyed the night visiting the museums with a friend, starting with the Mercedários UFPA. “The impact starts right from the outside because this building was abandoned until then and it looks beautiful now, the exhibition is also amazing, and now we are even more excited to go to the other museums,” she says.

The Museums and Memorials of the Integrated System are operating with free entry until November 21, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
