Residents of the two districts of Belém experience a different reality, with greater safety and mobility between the insular and urban regions of the capital of Pará

The Icoaraci Tourist Hydroviary Terminal, the new Bridge, and the Outeiro Port are changing the routine of thousands of residents and opening new economic and tourism opportunities in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.

In the district of Icoaraci, about 18 kilometers from downtown Belém, a name that in Tupi means "sun of the river", the delivery of the Tourist Hydroviary Terminal has changed the routine of the residents, who are already feeling the positive practical effects of investments that go beyond preparations for COP 30, the world conference on climate change.

A resident of Icoaraci for 30 years, housekeeper Helane Oliveira took her family for a medical appointment offered on a ship anchored at the district's port. "With this new port, there is more organization and safety. We notice improvements in our daily lives. We often need to use a boat for transportation to the nearby islands," says Helane.

Structure - The new Hydroviary Terminal of Icoaraci, delivered by the Government of Pará in October of this year, has modern and safe infrastructure for the boarding and disembarking of passengers. The space was designed to offer comfort to residents and tourists who come to experience the handicrafts, cuisine, and natural beauties of the so-called "Vila Sorriso".

In addition to experiencing the original culture of Icoaraci, with the new Hydroviary Terminal, visitors have the opportunity to visit the Islands of Cotijuba and the Marajó Archipelago, consolidating Icoaraci as a cultural reference and tourist destination during and after COP30.

The general director of the Regulatory and Control Agency for Public Transport Services (Artran), Luciano Dias, highlights the role of the agency in ensuring the operation of transportation, with regulated vessels, adherence to schedules, and respect for user rights. "Artran closely monitors the operation at the Icoaraci Terminal to ensure that river transport operates safely, regularly, and, of course, comfortably for users. And we notice that, with the improvement of the structure at the terminals and in the crossing, passengers feel safer and more welcomed. It is an important advance for river mobility," assures the general director of the Agency.

Stilt Bridge: a milestone in mobility - In the Outeiro District, also part of Belém, about 30 km from the city center, the delivery of the Pastor Firmino Gouveia Bridge in October of this year, connecting Outeiro and Icoaraci, is a milestone in regional mobility. The new structure reduces travel time between the two districts, facilitates access to downtown Belém, and opens new windows of economic and tourism opportunities.

The Outeiro District, known as the "Island of Love", is one of the most sought-after destinations in the Metropolitan Region for leisure. The island has freshwater beaches, typical cuisine, and a lifestyle that blends urban and beach living. The place is experiencing a moment of renewal with the recent structural works delivered before COP30.

"Before the bridge was delivered, I couldn't make the same trip from home to the supermarket by bicycle. It was by bus, taking about 45 minutes. I love Outeiro. This work is excellent, and I am sure that everyone here accepted and liked it," says Guilherme Sá, a retiree and resident of Outeiro for about 15 years.

New gateway to the Amazon - Outeiro is also gaining a new port, a project executed by the Pará Dock Company (CDP), in partnership with Itaipu Binacional. The president of CDP, Jardel Silva, informs that the work carried out expands the port capacity of Pará, improving regional logistics.

"In record time - six months - we managed to deliver to the population a new port, ready to be the new gateway to the Amazon. We delivered a port ready to receive cruise ships. Welcoming these two cruise ships marks a historic moment for the State of Pará and for the people of Pará," emphasizes Jardel Filho.
