Men arrested in Parauapebas for drug trafficking and association for trafficking
During the execution of the warrant, more than 11 kg of drugs were seized
The Civil Police, through the Regional Superintendence of Carajás, in conjunction with the Urban Section of Parauapebas, executed, on the afternoon of Wednesday (12), the preventive arrest warrant issued by the 1st Criminal Court of Parauapebas against a man investigated for the crimes of drug trafficking and association for trafficking. The suspect was arrested in the act, along with another man.
The arrest is the outcome of a series of investigations initiated following the seizure of approximately 40 kg of drugs, including marijuana, crack, and cocaine in an abandoned property used as a drug depot in Parauapebas, during the “Operation Seventh Seal.”
According to delegate João Abel, head of the Regional Superintendence of Carajás, the investigations allowed the identification of the target of the warrant as the person responsible for the storage and distribution of the drugs.
“The name of the suspect emerged after data cross-referencing and other elements collected during the investigations. Given the evidence, the police authority requested the preventive arrest and home search and seizure, measures later granted by the Judiciary, which also authorized the breaking of banking, tax, and telematic secrecy,” explained the superintendent.
Investigations - During the course of the complementary investigations, the police team found that kitnets located in the Guanabara neighborhood in Parauapebas were being used by the suspect as a new drug storage point. Based on this information, the investigators conducted covert surveillance at the location and observed the arrival of a white vehicle.
The suspect was in the passenger seat, jumped out of the vehicle, quickly entered one of the kitnets, and returned carrying a green bag. At the moment the police attempted to approach, the vehicle fled, initiating a chase through the neighborhood streets.
After a brief tactical follow-up, the vehicle was intercepted, and the suspect and a second man, who was driving the vehicle, were arrested. During the vehicle search, the agents found approximately 1 kg of a substance similar to marijuana of the “skunk” type, which, according to preliminary investigation, was to be delivered to a buyer.
According to the superintendent, during the search conducted at the property, more than 10 kg of a substance similar to skunk marijuana were seized. “In addition, about half a kilo of a substance similar to cocaine and substances similar to crack were also found. The drugs were valued at over 200 thousand reais,” explained João Abel.
Given the flagrant nature of the crime and the validity of the current judicial warrant, the suspects were taken to the headquarters of the Regional Superintendence of Carajás, along with all the seized material, including the vehicle, for the appropriate procedures. The execution of the warrant was communicated to the competent judicial authority, and both remain at the disposal of Justice.
