The increase of over 500% in the number of students who completed courses offered by the State Secretariat of Science, Technology, Higher Education, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet) at Usinas da Paz, from 2024 to 2025, is the result of the State Government's investment in providing qualification in community complexes, allowing UsiPaz to boost job opportunities for the population. Last year, 2,537 students completed vocational courses, and by October 2025, this number exceeded 17,000.

The courses open doors to the job market

At the Usina da Paz in Icuí-Guajará, in Ananindeua (Metropolitan Region of Belém), Geydson Monteiro, 23 years old, participated in several courses, such as Professional Training and Citizenship, Digital Generation, and Doorman and Receptionist, as well as an internship in administrative practices, which served as a foundation and encouragement for him to enter the job market.

“With the courses, which are free, I was able to enhance my knowledge and prepare for the market. I learned everything from how to express myself, control my speech, my breathing, and even how to create a resume. At Usinas, we have incredible opportunities that contribute greatly to our experiences,” says Geydson, who currently works in the administrative area of a private college in Belém.

Trainings - The State Secretariat of Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme) also promotes courses at Usinas da Paz. Only in 2025, more than 600 people were qualified in 39 courses, including Handicrafts, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality, and People Management.

“Our goal is to promote social inclusion, foster entrepreneurship, and generate jobs and income, in addition to stimulating sustainable economic development in the communities surrounding Usinas da Paz. It is essential to support professional training that allows participants to acquire new knowledge and skills, to act efficiently and autonomously in the job market,” emphasizes Paulo Bengtson, head of Sedeme.

After certification in the Professional Training and Citizenship, Computer Science, and Administrative Assistant courses at UsiPaz in Icuí-Guajará, through the ParáPaz Foundation, Aldaire Manoelly, 26 years old, got a job in the IT sector of a school in Ananindeua. This year, she enrolled in the University for All Program (Prouni) and secured a scholarship for the Systems Analysis and Development course.

“My intention was to acquire more knowledge and experiences because I was unemployed. I had already sent out several resumes and had not been called. After completing the three courses, which were very didactic and interesting, I had the opportunity to intern at the Usina, updated my resume, and started being called for job interviews, until I secured a job. The opportunity greatly boosted my professional growth,” assures Aldaire Manoelly.
