The Pará Economic Development Company (Codec) has made progress in another stage of negotiations with Fertimaxi, a Bahia-based NPK fertilizer industry that is considering expanding its operations to Pará. At this moment, the company's interest is focused on the logistics hub of Miritituba, in Itaituba, where it will conduct a technical visit next December. The company is also analyzing, in a future perspective, possibilities for installation in the Barcarena Industrial District.

The online meeting, held this Tuesday (11), aligned technical requirements and defined steps for the continuation of studies.

Pará on the industry's radar

Participating in the virtual meeting from Fertimaxi were Executive Director Marilton Santos Jr., Operations Director Romer Gonçalves, and Commercial Director Alessandro Rabelo.

Executive Director Marilton Santos Jr. stated that Pará emerges as a consistent alternative for the company's expansion. “We are carefully evaluating the scenarios in the State. Miritituba brings together strategic elements that can strengthen our operation, especially due to the integration with export corridors and the region's logistical structure,” he said.

The company is studying the acquisition of an area between 40 and 50 thousand square meters, located about 10 km from the port of Miritituba, to facilitate the logistics of transporting imported inputs to be used in production, such as hydrogen.

Codec structures information and provides security to the investor

Representing Codec were the Director of Business Attraction and Investments, Manoel Ibiapina, the Director of Strategy and Institutional Relations, Pádua Rodrigues, the Manager of New Business Support, Sabrina Sena, the Manager of Development and Economic Studies, Aline Tavares, and Advisor Evandro Diniz.

Director Manoel Ibiapina emphasized that the negotiations are progressing based on mutual trust and consistent information exchange.

“Codec was in Bahia in September, visiting Fertimaxi's facilities, getting to know the company's operational model up close. This approach demonstrates mutual interest and allows us to present, with even more precision, the competitive advantages of Pará,” he stated.

“We are providing security, clarity, and a suitable environment for investment decisions,” he added.

The Director of Strategy and Institutional Relations, Pádua Rodrigues, reinforced Codec's role in organizing the necessary steps for decision-making. “We work to ensure that the investor has a transparent and well-structured environment. The approach of Fertimaxi is the result of integrated articulation between the State, municipality, and productive sector,” he highlighted.

The meeting also included the participation of the mayor of Itaituba, Nicodemos Aguiar, and the Planning Secretary, Edmilson Góes, who made themselves available to facilitate the best conditions for receiving the enterprise, including identifying areas compatible with the requested profile.

The mayor emphasized the municipality's commitment to supporting the new enterprise. “Itaituba is experiencing a growth cycle and is ready to receive structuring investments. We will closely monitor the entire process and provide the necessary conditions for the company to settle safely,” he stated.

Institutional advancement

Codec reaffirmed support for the next steps, including technical, legal, and land advisory with Incra and Iterpa, as well as environmental alignments with Semas.

With the technical visit scheduled and the process advancing, Pará consolidates yet another strategic opportunity, strengthening its position as a logistical and industrial hub of the Amazon.
