The space for Pará culture at the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) is guaranteed at the Pará Pavilion, located in the Green Zone, within the City Park. The venue will host various presentations of regional culture, ranging from the traditional Arraial do Pavulagem to brega. The programming is promoted by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult). The space will operate throughout the conference period, from November 10 to 21, with activities throughout the day.

The State Secretary of Culture, Ursula Vidal, highlights the importance of valuing Pará culture and its manifestations at a globally significant event. “There are culture makers gathered in this confluence of knowledge, dialoguing with the debates surrounding the environmental agenda and showcasing the cultural power of our region. Here, culture is, and has always been, the foundation of our relationship with the territory, with memory, and the development of social technologies for survival and development,” emphasizes the head of Secult.

According to her, each artist selected for the Pará Pavilion plays the role of messenger of a diverse culture, drawing the world's attention to the Amazon. The space was designed to value those who were born and live in the region, keeping traditions alive and strengthening cultural presence in the debates of COP30.

Regionality - Another who reinforces the potential of the moment is singer Nilson Chaves, one of the most well-known voices of Pará music, who celebrates the opportunity to bring local art to new audiences. “It is an honor to be able to sing within such an important project as COP30 and, even more, to be able to showcase our musical regionality to an audience that normally wouldn’t have this opportunity. Secult deserves congratulations for the initiative to open this window for Pará artists to present themselves to a special audience,” emphasizes the artist.

Nilson Chaves points out that, at a global event like COP30, each performance gains even more symbolic strength as it is the result of Amazonian art, created by local artists who proudly represent the cultural identity of the region.
