The Government of Pará obtained, on this Monday (3), the official approval from the National Council of Export Processing Zones (CZPE) for the creation of the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) of Barcarena, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The decision was published on the gov.br portal and also authorizes the installation of the first anchor industry of the complex, Bravo Metals.

This measure marks a historic advance for the State's development strategy and consolidates Pará at the center of the Brazilian agenda for industrialization aimed at export, with an emphasis on technology, sustainability, productive diversification, and the generation of qualified jobs.

With the approval, the State moves to the effective implementation phase of the enterprise, involving the subsequent stages of executive project, customs project, environmental licensing, and infrastructure construction, allowing Pará to explore its potential, vocation, and competitive differential for the international market of its main productive chains, including those aimed at the bioeconomy. Thus, the State strengthens its national reference in low-carbon industry and logistical integration with global markets.

Export-ready environment - Located in an area exceeding 3.5 million square meters in the Barcarena Industrial District, including an expansion area, the ZPE will have 2.2 million square meters and will feature customs infrastructure, warehouses, container yards, 24-hour surveillance systems, high-precision scales, and administrative facilities of the Federal Revenue, Health Authorities, and the Pará Economic Development Company (Codec).

The complex has been planned to ensure efficiency, safety, and competitiveness for exporting companies, integrating port, road, and river operations, and, in the future, the Pará Railway.

With economic zoning aimed at strategic sectors, the ZPE Barcarena will prioritize mineral transformation industries, bioindustry, and biotechnology, involving innovative chains linked to Amazonian biodiversity, as well as logistics, electronics, fine chemicals, food, packaging, and data center services.

First anchor - Bravo Metals will be the first company installed in the ZPE, focused on the production of strategic metals and high technology applied, using renewable energy, increasing the value added to mineral production in the State itself and strengthening local productive chains.

Regarding the institutional reach of the measure, the president of Codec, Lutfala Bitar, stated that "the approval of the ZPE Barcarena confirms a new era for Pará. We are strengthening our industrial base, generating jobs, attracting investments, and positioning the State as a reference in sustainable development and productive innovation. It is a decisive step for the new economy of the Amazon."

The director of Strategy and Institutional Relations, Pádua Rodrigues, responsible for coordinating the project, emphasized the alignment between planning and execution. "This is a project built with strategic vision, technical work, unity, and institutional dialogue between the state government, the municipal government of Barcarena, and the productive sector, through Fiepa (Federation of Industries of Pará) and ACP (Commercial Association of Pará), in addition to Bravo Metals. The ZPE of Barcarena represents real development for the people of Pará, with more innovation, jobs, and international competitiveness. It is a milestone and a decisive achievement for the future of our State," emphasized Pádua Rodrigues.

Next steps - With federal approval, the State advances to the implementation of operational infrastructure and customs procedures, and is already working on organizing a public event for the official presentation of the ZPE and the industrial project of Bravo Metals.

The agenda will take place in December, with the participation of authorities, the productive sector, universities, and representatives of the regional economic ecosystem. The date and schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
