Head of Sespa participates in meeting on Health Care in the Legal Amazon, in Brasília
The subject is part of the agenda of the Technical Chamber of Health Care of the National Council of Health Secretaries
The State Secretary of Public Health, Ivete Vaz, and the Deputy Secretary of Administrative Management, Edney Pereira, are in Brasília (DF), at the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), participating in the meeting of the Technical Chamber of Health Care (CTAS), which has as its specific agenda the Health Care in the Legal Amazon.
The meeting is being coordinated by the technical advisors of Conas, Luciana Toledo and Luciana Vieira. In addition to the managers from Pará, it includes the presence of managers from the other States of the Legal Amazon (Acre, Amazonas, Amapá, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, and Maranhão).
On the morning of this Monday (3), after the opening of the event, made by the executive secretary of Conass, Jurandi Frutuoso, Luciana Toledo, Luciana Vieira, and Haroldo Pontes presented the proposal to build a group to discuss the Legal Amazon together with the State Schools of Public Health. "The idea is that next year a large meeting will be held to define the priority agendas, which have already been addressed in recent months, and also to prepare a publication to give more visibility to the needs of the region," she informed.
Next, the proposal to build a Repository of Descriptions for Air and Ambulance Services was presented by Liége Rodrigues (SES-AM) and Ana Cristina da Silva (SES-AC) and two projects from the Institutional Development Support Program of the Unified Health System (Proadi-SUS), which should be conducted by the Special Secretariat of Indigenous Health (Sesai), namely, the Project for Improvement of Maternal and Child Health and Prevention of CCU in Indigenous Health (MICCI), presented by Alaine Arruda from Sesai/MS; and Remote Technologies and Strategies for Advancing Specialized Health in Indigenous Territories, presented by Stephan Sperling from HSL.
For the head of Sespa, Ivete Vaz, it is very important that the Amazon region is viewed differently by the Ministry of Health. "Because, in addition to the geographical extent, a large part of our populations lives in the middle of the forest and along riverbanks, which represents a great challenge for the SUS management to ensure they have access to health services in the same way as people in cities. So we were excited about all the projects aimed at our region that will mainly benefit indigenous and traditional populations," said the secretary.
In the afternoon, the agenda included the National Policy for Cancer Prevention and Control, by José Barreto (Decan/SAES/MS) and Heber Dobis and Mônica Lima, both from Conass; and the Super Center Brazil for Cancer Diagnosis, by Eline Mendonça (Decnb/SAES/MS) and Fernando Martins (CGPRO/SAES/MS).
The program continues this Tuesday (4), addressing the Role of CTAS and Priority Agendas for 2026, the Program Agoa Tem Especialista, the National Regulation Policy of SUS, the Urgency and Emergency Network, and Substitute Renal Therapy.
