Forensic Police of Pará mobilizes specialized teams for action during COP 30
Servers will act exclusively between November 1 and 21 at international events held in Belém
The Forensic Police of Pará (PCEPA) organized a special operation to reinforce security during international events held in Belém, such as the Global Citizen: Amazon festival, the Leaders' Summit, and the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30), which will take place in November 2025. The actions are coordinated by the Criminalistics Institute (IC), the Institute of Legal Medicine and Dentistry (IMOL), and the Coordination of Improvement and Research (COAPES), linked to PCEPA.
Between November 1 and 21, exclusive teams from PCEPA will be mobilized to act at the events, starting with the Global Citizen: Amazon festival, which takes place this Saturday (1st) at the Edgar Proença State Stadium (Mangueirão). The event will bring together artists and international leaders in defense of sustainability. During the festival, experts from the Homicide Crime Scene Unit (NCCV) will integrate the security task force, which will include more than 500 agents.
In the following days, the teams will also act at the Leaders' Summit, which is expected to gather around 57 heads of state and government, and at COP 30. The Forensic Police has made professionals from various sectors available, including the Property Crimes Unit, the Applied Engineering Unit, the Vehicle Forensics Management, and the removal sector, for immediate response to any incidents during the events.
Even with the operational reinforcement at major events, the regular services of PCEPA will continue normally, being called upon by police authorities and other public institutions to carry out forensic examinations throughout the State.
Training and simulations reinforce preparation
The preparation of the Forensic Police for COP 30 began months before the conference, with intelligence meetings and the execution of two simulated exercises for Mass Casualty Incidents (IMV). The first simulation, coordinated by the National Force of SUS, took place at Aldeia Cabana and simulated a collision between a bus and a passenger car. The action was partnered with the State Department of Public Health of Pará (Sespa) and trained more than 300 professionals from the network for emergency response, with three days of training focused on the fundamentals of IMV.
The second simulation was coordinated by the Northern Military Command (CMN) and took place in a shopping mall in the capital, where a scenario of an explosion with multiple victims was staged. The Forensic Police participated in the simulations with forensic examinations at the crime scene and body removal, working in conjunction with the other forces involved.
Technical training for victim identification
In the week leading up to the events, the Coordination of Improvement and Research (Coapes) held the Workshop on Forensic Sciences: DVI (Disaster Victim Identification), aimed at criminal experts and institution servers. The training focused on technical capacity building for victim identification in natural disasters, air accidents, and attacks, following international protocols.
“The goal of the workshop was to train the servers for victim identification in events such as natural disasters, plane crashes, and terrorist attacks, ensuring an orderly process in accordance with Interpol standards,” explained the general director of PCEPA, Celso Mascarenhas.
The director also emphasized the institution's readiness to act in an integrated manner with other security forces. “The Forensic Police has prepared, through the intelligence of the agency, and trained its servers to act in any incidents that may arise. We will be present and active, integrated with other public security forces, through our experts, forensic doctors, and other teams to meet the demands of the population and tourists coming to our State,” highlighted Mascarenhas.
