Assisted operation of the Metropolitan BRT begins this Saturday (1st) with three trunk lines and four feeder lines
Implementation will be gradual and ensures integration between municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Belém
The Government of Pará begins this Saturday (1st) the assisted operation of the Metropolitan BRT system, a milestone in urban mobility in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The implementation will be gradual, with the initial operation of three trunk lines departing from the Marituba Terminal towards central areas of the capital, and four feeder lines that will transport passengers from neighborhoods in Ananindeua, Marituba, Benevides, and Santa Izabel to the integration terminals.
The trunk lines will depart from BR-316 towards Belém and will stop at the two integration terminals, in Marituba and Ananindeua, both on the way there and back. They are: Marituba Terminal - Ver-o-Peso (express); Marituba Terminal - Praça da Bandeira (express); and Marituba Terminal - Presidente Vargas (stopping).
The feeder lines will circulate within the municipalities, connecting neighborhoods to the integration terminals. They are: Marituba Terminal - Santa Izabel; Marituba Terminal - União/Cerâmica; Marituba Terminal - Benevides/Madre Tereza; and Ananindeua Terminal - Cidade Nova 8.
The Metropolitan BRT features an integrated digital ticketing system, which can be used via the Pra Já physical card or the Pra Já Metropolitano app, available for Android and soon for iOS. Payment can be made by tapping the card or with the QR Code generated by the app at the validators of the terminals and buses.
Cash payments will be accepted at the ticket offices of the Ananindeua and Marituba terminals, and also directly with the bus driver at common stops. During the first days, users will be able to temporarily use the card from another transportation system to ensure the right to free or reduced fare.
The physical Pra Já cards are being issued at the service points of the Marituba and Ananindeua terminals, upon presentation of ID, CPF, and proof of residence. Students must also present proof of enrollment, and people with disabilities must provide a medical report.
As this is a new transportation model, the operation of the Metropolitan BRT will begin gradually, according to demand and passenger flow behavior.
