The State Department of Finance of Pará (Sefa) seized 704 boxes of wine, totaling 4,944 bottles, during an inspection carried out on October 31 at the tax post on the Transamazon Highway in Marabá, southeastern Pará. The cargo, valued at R$ 96,112.80, was being transported from São Paulo (SP) to the municipality of Tucuruí (PA), without the collection of the advance ICMS, required by state legislation for beverages.

The seizure was carried out by officials from the Coordination of Goods in Transit Control of the Carajás Region, who identified the irregularity by analyzing the tax documentation presented by the transporter.

According to the unit coordinator, Cicinato Oliveira, the infraction was detected after consulting Sefa's electronic systems, which indicated the absence of the due tax at the time of the goods' entry into Pará territory.

“During the inspection, a truck transporting goods from São Paulo to Tucuruí was approached. After document analysis, it was found that the taxpayer failed to collect the advance ICMS upon entering Pará, which is mandatory in the case of beverages, as determined by current legislation,” he explained.

In light of the irregularity, a Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was drawn up in the amount of R$ 66,055.84, corresponding to the tax and the applicable fine.
