Pará Pavilion - Municipalities at COP30 brings together cities from Pará around innovation, sustainability, and culture
Space offers international visibility for sustainable development initiatives and cultural diversity of the state
Aiming to encourage the participation of municipalities from Pará in the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), the government of the State of Pará presents the Pará Pavilion-Municipalities at COP30. The initiative provides a platform for municipal administrations to showcase their sustainability actions and seek international partnerships.
The Pará Pavilion will operate at the Centenary Convention Center of the Assembly of God, on Augusto Montenegro Avenue, and will be open to the public and participants of COP30 from November 17 to 21. Managed by the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur), the project is considered a milestone, as it will be the first time that all municipalities of a Brazilian state will have their own space at a Climate Conference.
The space will feature standardized booths, each with 16 square meters, as well as a food court, stage, and areas designated for discussion circles and podcast recordings. Participation is strategic to enhance the visibility of regional potential.
At the launch of the platform, Governor Helder Barbalho emphasized that "all 144 municipalities will have a space to showcase their sustainability projects, with the opportunity to seek partnerships that can be built within the sustainability agenda and showcase their culture, gastronomy, skills, and riches."
Joining the Pará Pavilion represents a direct opportunity for municipalities to insert themselves into the global sustainability agenda and promote local development. The expectation is that COP30, with representatives from over 190 countries, will bring unprecedented visibility to Pará and its cities.
Event Logistics
The management of the Pará Pavilion - Municipalities at COP30, under the coordination of Setur, reinforces the role of tourism and culture as vectors of sustainable development. "The Pavilion is a unique moment of international visibility for the municipalities of Pará, where they can showcase their local production, gastronomy, culture, bioeconomy products. It is also a way to stimulate partnerships and investments, as well as connect this audience to the Amazonian territories," said Setur's Deputy Secretary, Lucas Vieira.
The structure of the Pavilion was designed to facilitate the participation and exhibition of municipalities, including the setup of booths and technical support to the city halls.
"As mayor, I see with great hope and responsibility the realization of this great event, which goes far beyond a meeting between world leaders. It is a call to action, a moment to rethink how we produce, consume, and care for our planet. We, from Castanhal, are committed to sustainable development and strengthening actions that ensure more quality of life and a better future for all. May this be a milestone of transformation," declared the mayor of Castanhal, Hélio Leite.
The mayor of Tomé-Açu, Carlos Vieira, also emphasized the relevance of participation. "It is very important to be able to present to the world our pioneering agroforestry system, based on the cultural and productive diversity of the Amazon. We will showcase what we have that is richest: our gastronomy, culture, creative economy, handicrafts, and the century-old history of Japanese immigration," he stressed.
The participation of municipalities in COP30, through the Pará Pavilion, consolidates the State government's strategy to value local solutions within the global climate debate, making COP30 an event of direct and lasting impact on the municipalities of Pará.
