As part of the campaign for the 'Mammography D-Day', held on Wednesday (29) by the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), the Public Regional Hospital of Marajó (HRPM) in Breves; the Public Regional Hospital of Caetés (HRPC) in Capanema; and the General Hospital of Tailândia (HGT) together conducted a total of 422 services, including mammography exams and appointments, as part of the Pink October initiative.

The action, promoted by the Working Group and Humanization (GTH) of the hospital unit, along with the women of Marajó, resulted in 88 mammography exams and the remaining in 77 appointments. The appointments will be distributed until December. In total, there were 165 services. Educational actions were also carried out with the support of Biomedical students from Unopar College.

Among the beneficiaries of the breast cancer prevention campaign, housewife Maria Soraia Alves da Silva, 63, said she learned about the mobilization from a neighbor. “It’s important because the sooner we discover the problem, the faster treatment begins, which increases the chance of a cure.”

Similarly, user Nayara Suellen Souza da Silva, 41, participated in the mobilization and had her first mammogram. She praised the action of the Government of Pará, which offered the exam without the need for prior scheduling. “Excellent. It will save many lives. Just gratitude for the opportunity,” highlighted Nayara.

HGT

The action of the General Hospital of Tailândia ensured the delivery of 57 mammograms and scheduled another 40 for the week, between November 3 and 5. There were a total of 97 services. The unit prepared a thematic environment in the Mammography Room and in the scheduling areas, with motivational phrases, and a special menu for users and staff. A team of about 10 professionals and members of the Humanization Working Group (GTH) provided support and assistance to the women served, including guidance, direction, and filling out forms, ensuring an organized and humanized service.

Retiree Maria Neide, 51, had the mammography exam. She learned about the service offer when she visited the unit in the previous days and decided to participate in the action. “Three days ago I was at the hospital and heard the team informing that they would carry out this campaign. So, I took the opportunity. The mammogram is important for women's health. Everything was very good, I thank the team for their attention and care for all of us,” said the user.

During the program, 130 mammography exams were offered and the scheduling of another 30 services, totaling 160 services, demonstrating the hospital's commitment to promoting prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.

User Regina Lúcia de Jesus Corrêa, 60, a resident of the municipality of Salinópolis, learned about the action through the community health agent (ACS) from the Atlântico neighborhood. “I found it important and came to have the exam. The mammogram is a care we need to have. The service was quick and close to our region. Thank you,” she highlighted.

The initiative of the Government of Pará and Sespa, part of the Pink October campaign, offered free exams without the need for scheduling to women over 40 years old in more than 20 health units across all regions of the State.
