Detran offers online service for traffic violation appeals

Drivers can check violations, download payment slips, and even present defenses without leaving home

Detran announces that services, previously only available in person, are now available online

Receiving a traffic ticket is always a hassle, but to make life easier for those who are fined, the State Department of Transit (Detran) offers various violation services that can be accessed entirely online. The agency's electronic violation system is available on the website www.detran.pa.gov.br, where citizens can check violations, download payment slips, consult the notification of violation, and present defenses and appeals.

“These are services that used to be done only in person, but over time, they have become available in a virtual environment, so citizens do not need to travel to Detran or any of its units. It’s all practical and quick, and can even be done via mobile phone,” explains Valter Aragão, manager of the National Traffic Violation Registration System (Renainf) at Detran.

All services are available at the “Violation Service” link. The first step is to check if the citizen actually has a violation and then proceed with the desired service, which can be accessing the payment slip for the fine or presenting the defense and appeal 100% online. In this case, Detran created the citizen portal (https://cidadao.detran.pa.gov.br/) specifically for people who wish to contest the fine.

It is important to note that the presentation of Defense of Violation or Appeal of Fine must be made exclusively regarding violations or fines imposed by Detran. The Department does not accept processes from other enforcement agencies.

The driver must wait for the notification of the violation issued by the Postal Service. Another way is to receive the notification through the Digital Traffic License (CDT) app. After the notification, the citizen has up to 30 days to present the defense and follow the process without leaving home. For this, the driver registers with a login to access the internal area of the portal and submit the request. On the page itself, it is possible to access a guide with step-by-step instructions for the service. “The online service is easy, free, and can be accessed conveniently from anywhere in Pará,” recalls Aragão.
