Artran removes over 100 irregular vehicles from circulation on the roads of Pará
The work of the State Transport Regulatory Agency reached over 60 municipalities between January and September 2025
The Public Transport Regulatory and Control Agency (Artran) intensified its inspection actions on roads and bus terminals in 2025. According to a survey by the Inspection Management (GFIS), the teams conducted 8,748 inspections, issued 5,998 notices of violation, and seized 104 vehicles, including 28 authorized and 76 clandestine - most without authorization for passenger transport. The data refers to the period from January to September of this year.
“Each seizure represents less risk to life and a safer trip for those who depend on public transport,” emphasizes the general director of Artran, Luciano Dias, reinforcing that combating illegal transport is not just about punishment, but also about education. “Many people are still unaware of the danger of boarding unauthorized vehicles, and that is why inspections exist to save lives and ensure a dignified service for those who need to travel between the cities of Pará,” informs the head of the Agency.
The decentralization of operations helped boost the results of 2025. The number of teams increased from 12 in January to 39 in July, the month with the highest volume of actions. This expansion allowed coverage of busy stretches, such as the BR-316, PA-150, and BR-230 (Transamazon), as well as reaching hard-to-access municipalities.
The interiorization of inspections ensured a constant presence in strategic hubs, such as Tailândia, Benevides, Santa Maria do Pará, São Miguel do Guamá, Abaetetuba, Barcarena, Moju, Santo Antônio do Tauá, Santarém, Itaituba, and Altamira.
Irregularities - The highest incidences of violations and seizures occurred in the Metropolitan regions of Belém, Northeast, Southeast, and West, with emphasis on the municipalities of Belém, Ananindeua, Castanhal, Abaetetuba, Barcarena, Benevides, Marituba, Santarém, Marabá, Parauapebas, Tailândia, Tucuruí, Altamira, Santa Maria do Pará, and Capanema.
Among the municipalities with seizures of clandestine vehicles, Castanhal, Bragança, Capanema, Parauapebas, Marabá, Tucuruí, Tailândia, Abaetetuba, Benevides, São Miguel do Guamá, Xinguara, Paragominas, Canaã dos Carajás, Santana do Araguaia, Barcarena, Itaituba, and Santarém stand out.
“In many cases, vehicles were caught making trips without authorization or regular line documentation. The results highlight the reach of Artran's actions, which reached over 60 municipalities inspected between January and September,” emphasizes the coordinator of Road Transport (CTA), José Cruz.
