In honor of the Pink October campaign, the management of Jean Bitar Hospital (HJB) in Belém held a special program on Thursday (23) aimed at users and collaborators of the unit. The activities took place throughout the day and included a women's care SPA and a lecture on breast cancer prevention, held in the hospital's central reception.

The action aimed to reinforce the importance of self-care, prevention, and early diagnosis of breast cancer, the most common type among women in Brazil, but which can also affect men.

Approval - User Benediana Rodrigues, 38 years old, a farmer from the city of Abaetetuba, who accompanies her father in treatment at the hospital, attended the lecture alongside her husband. For her, moments like this are fundamental.

“When I go to the health post near my house, I always seek to inform myself and do my preventive exams. Today I was able to clarify even more of my doubts,” she highlighted.

The lecture was given by nurse Cipriana Catarina Aguiar, who emphasized the importance of health spaces promoting educational awareness actions.

“Breast cancer is the most common type in women, but it can also affect men, about 1% of cases, according to the National Cancer Institute (Inca). Therefore, it is essential that hospitals and other health institutions develop actions that reinforce this alert to the population,” she stated.

For the Administrative and Financial Manager of HJB, Cláudia Srbek, a member of the Humanization Working Group (GTH), the hospital constantly seeks to integrate technical care with human care.

“Once again, HJB demonstrates its commitment to collaborators and users. Although we are not a reference in oncological treatment, we believe that information is one of the most effective ways to care. Knowledge about prevention is something that one carries for a lifetime,” she emphasized.

Throughout the month, the State Department of Public Health of Pará (Sespa), through the State Coordination of Oncological Care, promotes a series of actions in honor of Pink October. With the theme “Come take care of yourself,” the 2025 campaign reinforces the importance of regular medical follow-up and the performance of preventive exams, especially mammography.
