Emater gathers settlers from Piçarra to discuss access to rural credit
Family farmers were able to clarify doubts and receive guidance on public policies aimed at rural workers
About 90 family farmers from settlements in the municipality of Piçarra, in the southeast of the state, participated in a meeting about public policies aimed at promoting family farming. The initiative, held this week, was organized by the Government of Pará, through the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater-Pará), with support from the Municipal City Hall.
During the program, held at the Sports Gymnasium of the Vila Oziel Pereira Community, 45 kilometers from the city, guidance and discussions were made about rural credit, such as access to the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf) and clarification of doubts about debt renegotiation of the Desenrola Brasil Program, both from the Federal Government.
Rural producer Jucivaldo Araújo, president of the Association of Producers and Residents of APAOPI II in Piçarra, evaluated the meeting positively, which also included the presence of financing agents from the Bank of the Amazon in Eldorado dos Carajás, as well as technicians from Emater's Local Office (Esloc) in the municipality.
“It was very good because we were able to clear up several doubts about how to access credit lines aimed at us, who are farmers. I produce milk, cassava, and corn, but I want to start producing cocoa and açaí. Who knows now, with the support of Emater, I can get the approval of a project that helps me improve my production. Especially with cocoa, which is much more profitable and will greatly improve our lives here in the region,” he stated.
According to farmer Evandro dos Santos from the APRUPS Settlement, the initiative was very well received by the settlers. According to him, the lack of information made life very difficult for small farmers.
“This meeting was of great importance for our region. Many times, we farmers were even ashamed to go to a bank agency or to seek out people who could help us, often treated poorly or something like that. With the explanations we received, we were able to have a better understanding of how to proceed in obtaining project approvals to improve our production and our family's income. I already have financing, which I obtained through Emater. I work with milk and beef cattle,” he emphasized.
The head of the Esloc in Piçarra, Flávio Vidal, celebrated the large attendance and reinforced the importance of providing information like that presented in the meeting. “It was a meeting with settlers from the settlements PA Oziel Pereira, PA Barreira Branca, PA Carumbé, PA Ponta da Serra, PA Mutuâ, all here in Piçarra. About ninety farmers attended, who cleared doubts and received guidance on the main credit lines aimed at them, such as Pronaf B, Pronaf Mais Alimentos, in addition to clarifying how to clean their names through Desenrola Brasil, so that they can improve their activities, bringing more quality of life to rural workers,” he explained.
