Professionals from the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas are honored at the Santarém City Council
The unit is a reference in oncology for 29 municipalities in western Pará. Doctors working at HRBA were highlighted in the special session commemorating the fight against breast cancer.
A special session in honor of the Pink October campaign was held on Wednesday afternoon (22) at the headquarters of the Santarém City Council, in western Pará. Health professionals, patients, and former oncology patients were honored, along with institutions (such as the group Mulheres Vitoriosas and Associação Casa Rosa), as well as individuals involved in the prevention and fight against breast cancer in the municipality.
Among the 21 honorees were doctors from the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas Dr. Waldemar Penna (HRBA): oncologist and hematologist Kalysta Borges, radiation oncologist Patrícia Mineiro, oncologist Kamila Silva, and mastologist Armando Cunha, who work daily in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer patients. The general director of the unit, Matheus Coutinho, was part of the table during the session.
"On behalf of all the doctors who received this honor, we are very happy and honored with this moment. Every day we receive thanks from our patients, the hugs. And I am also very happy to see them here in the session, and well. There is no way to do oncology without humanization, and I am very honored to be part of this team at the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas," thanked doctor Patrícia Mineiro.
The professionals were chosen by patients and former patients of HRBA, through the group Mulheres Vitoriosas and the Associação Amigos do Peito Casa Rosa, which promote a voluntary support network for women undergoing cancer treatment.
"It is a very important session for all of us who are involved in oncological treatment. The Regional Hospital could not be left out. We know it is the second home for women starting treatment. These are moments that recognize the role of professionals in treatment, quality of life, and well-being of patients," highlighted the president of the Associação Amigos do Peito, Adelane Siqueira.
Unacon - A reference in oncology for a population of 1.4 million inhabitants from 29 municipalities in western Pará, the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas is accredited by the Ministry of Health as a High Complexity Oncology Assistance Unit (Unacon), providing comprehensive care, with general, specialized, and integral assistance to cancer patients, acting in diagnosis and treatment.
The unit offers consultations, surgeries, and sessions of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and brachytherapy, as well as mammography, ultrasound, colonoscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging, important exams for cancer diagnosis.
According to councilwoman Bárbara Matos, author of the request for the session at the City Council, the moment was a recognition of the importance of the service provided by HRBA to all oncology users. "The tribute we pay to the professionals at the Regional Hospital is of utmost importance so that they can continue their work in a humanized manner, serving our population. What we saw today was a lot of affection directed towards them. This shows that they are on the right path. We recognize HRBA as one of the strong public policies that the state government has in our municipality, saving lives not only in Santarém but throughout the western region of Pará," emphasized the councilwoman.
"For us, as HRBA, it is a great satisfaction to participate once again in this special session in honor of Pink October. Even better is to be able to honor our professionals, who were recognized for all the services provided to our patients. It is a great satisfaction because it represents the personification of everything that the Regional Hospital aims to do in almost 19 years, which is to provide quality public health assistance," emphasized Matheus Coutinho.
