Setur reaches the mark of 90 municipalities in Pará on the Brazilian Tourism Map
The Map is the strategic tool of the Ministry of Tourism that guides the formulation and execution of public policies aimed at the development of tourism activities throughout the country

The State Secretariat of Tourism (Setur) celebrates significant advances in the Tourism Regionalization Program, reaching the milestone of including 90 municipalities in Pará on the Brazilian Tourism Map, a strategic tool of the Ministry of Tourism that guides the formulation and execution of public policies aimed at the development of tourism activities throughout the country.
Among the municipalities that renewed their presence on the Map are Barcarena, Conceição do Araguaia, Limoeiro do Ajuru, Marituba, Ourém, Paragominas, Santarém, São Caetano de Odivelas, São João do Araguaia, and Xinguara. The cities that joined the instrument for the first time are Acará, Baião, Bujaru, Concórdia do Pará, Curionópolis, Igarapé-Miri, Placas, Rurópolis, São Domingos do Araguaia, and Terra Santa, resulting from a coordinated effort between the State and the municipalities to strengthen tourism in a decentralized manner.
According to the Secretary of Tourism of Pará, Eduardo Costa, this achievement reflects the State Government's commitment to strengthening tourism management in the municipalities. “The Tourism Map is an essential tool for guiding investments and actions that promote the sustainable development of the sector. This expansion demonstrates that Pará is on the right track, with a solid regionalization policy and municipalities increasingly prepared to welcome tourists, generate jobs and income, and strengthen the local economy,” highlighted the head of Setur.
The Brazilian Tourism Map is part of the Tourism Regionalization Program (PRT) and defines the territorial scope to be prioritized by the Ministry of Tourism in the development of public policies. Presence on the Map demonstrates that municipalities have a minimum structure for tourism management and, therefore, are eligible to attract federal resources for investments in urban infrastructure, cultural events, destination promotion, professional training, and strategic actions to boost the sector.

To integrate into the Map, municipalities must meet criteria defined by Ordinance MTur No. 9, dated April 24, 2025, such as the existence of a municipal body or entity responsible for tourism, a specific budget allocation for the sector, registered service providers in Cadastur, and proof of having an active Municipal Tourism Council. The registration, carried out through the Brazilian Tourism Map Information System (Sismapa), is valid for one year and can be renewed starting 30 days before the end of the current period.
According to Hugo Almeida, manager of Structuring Tourist Destinations at Setur and state interlocutor of the PRT, the result is the fruit of an integrated action among different spheres. “The success of including municipalities in the Brazilian Tourism Map is a direct reflection of the joint efforts between Setur, the Ministry of Tourism, municipal tourism secretariats, the network of regional interlocutors, and municipal councilors. Recognizing these efforts is essential for the advancement and consolidation of tourism in the State through the engagement of all in promoting the sector,” he emphasized.
Setur offers technical assistance through the State Program for Support to Municipal Tourism Management, monitoring all stages of the process and ensuring that municipalities meet the established criteria. The agency is also responsible for analyzing and approving registrations, which are subsequently forwarded to the Ministry of Tourism for publication. The registration is valid for one year and can be requested at any time, which expands the opportunities for the inclusion and updating of Pará's destinations in the national tourism scenario.
