With a team of 524 doctors in more than 40 different specialties, working in outpatient clinics; surgical units; inpatient units; ICUs; and obstetric emergency and urgency services of the institution, the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation is one of the largest hospitals providing assistance to the population of the State and also a space for training specialists in the medical field.

An experienced institution, which throughout its centennial history, maintains as a tradition the culture of care, always with attention to innovation and humanized assistance in pursuit of excellence, as stated by Dr. Norma Assunção, the assistant director of Santa Casa.

“The profession of a doctor is truly a priesthood because you have to love a lot, deal with people, and help in the healing or improvement of someone's health. It is about having that genuine look towards others and having a look at the entire team, which is alongside contributing to this care for our patients. And generating knowledge itself, teaching the next generations, which is what Santa Casa does, prepares new specialist doctors for a future career, and our team of doctors has this educational role,” she emphasizes.

Rebeca Soriano is one of the doctors who chose Santa Casa to specialize. As a pediatrics resident, she believes that the experience at the institution will enrich her knowledge and experiences in the field.

“We can never stop studying and need to be constantly seeking to specialize, in search of deeper knowledge to bring the best to our patients, especially in my case, to the children and their families. And Santa Casa is a maternal-infant reference, so I couldn't be in a better place to specialize. We are covered with very rich cases for us to learn, there are qualified teachers, and preceptors who are also interested in our development; I think I couldn't be in a better place,” said the young doctor.

Together with other residency colleagues, Rebeca participated, on the morning of this Monday (20), in an activity aimed at promoting interaction and fellowship among old and new doctors working at the institution. A moment of relaxation for the professionals, who were able to meet other colleagues in the profession, reunite, and exchange ideas in a relaxed environment, planned as a tribute to the category.

“It is a way of thanking these professionals, and this is one of the points of valuing the medical profession, which is one of the essential professions to develop the mission of this hospital, which is to care for people's health and generate knowledge; teaching the next generations, which is what Santa Casa does, prepares new specialist doctors for a future career, and our team of doctors has this educational role. So it is a fundamental moment for the institution to recognize the work of this professional,” reinforced the director.

For over 40 years caring for the health of the little patients of Santa Casa, pediatrician Celina Maciel joined her colleagues who participated in the program honoring the doctors.

"Santa Casa has always had this profile focused on welcoming professionals, and during these 43 years it has been a great pleasure to work at Santa Casa, and this tribute, this recognition, brings comfort to our hearts," she emphasized.
