The Government of Pará, through the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), held this Saturday (18) the "D Day of Multivaccination", in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Municipal Health Department of Belém (Sesma). The official opening of the campaign to update the vaccination schedule for children and adolescents under 15 years old took place at the Basic Health Unit (UBS) Portal da Amazônia, marking the beginning of the mobilization throughout the State.

In the early morning, parents and guardians were already gathering at the Unit. The self-employed Cleice Oliveira brought her daughter, Jasmine Luiza, 1 year and 5 months, to receive the DTP and yellow fever vaccines. "I was happy to be able to vaccinate today because during the week it is busier. The team was very attentive, and I leave here calm, knowing that she is protected," she said.

State Immunization Coordinator of Sespa, Jaíra Ataíde

According to the state immunization coordinator of Sespa, Jaíra Ataíde, the action plays an essential role in actively seeking those who have not yet been vaccinated. "The Multivaccination Campaign has a very marked characteristic, which is to seek out people who are still unvaccinated. In this case, we are focusing on children and adolescents, but we are also encouraging young people aged 15 to 19 to get the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine. The SUS (Unified Health System) is strengthened when federal, state, and municipal management work together. The integration with Sesma is a great example of this union, which makes a difference," highlighted Jaíra Ataíde.

Housewife Elizabeth Lopes brought her son João Lucas, 10 years old, to receive the yellow fever vaccine. "The campaign is very good because daily life is very busy, and there is not always time to bring them during the week. Today it was much easier," she stated.

Movement - According to the Ministry of Health, more than 30,000 vaccination rooms are open across the country this Saturday. In Pará, the movement has been intense since early morning. Sespa representative Lena Peres highlighted the importance of the joint effort.

"Today we have all the capitals and cities mobilized. In Pará, all 144 municipalities are holding 'D Day', and this is very important. Sometimes, people cannot go during the week and take advantage of the day to update their vaccinations. Just this year, the vaccination campaign in schools has already vaccinated 1 million people. The vaccine is life, one of the greatest inventions of medicine, and prevents severe cases of diseases. Pará has shown significant results, especially in the coverage of the triple viral vaccine," she emphasized.

For the director of Health Surveillance at Sespa, Rosiana Nobre, the success of the mobilization is the result of the combined efforts between the Union, State, and municipalities. "This union has a positive impact at all levels — community, municipalities, and State. Together, we will certainly achieve very good results. This joint strength is already reflected in the actions and services, and the outcome will be wonderful," assured the manager.

Yasmin Machado brought Igor Gabriel, 9 months old, to receive the Covid-19 and yellow fever vaccines, and highlighted the importance of the initiative. "It is very important to update the vaccines. I always bring him because I know it is for his health, and today it was much easier since it is Saturday," she added.

Luciana Cordeiro brought her daughters Daniele, 10 years old, and Tayná, 6 years old, to get vaccinated against DTP, yellow fever, and chickenpox. "I think this type of action is very important for their well-being. We always have to take care and keep our children healthy. This is essential," said Luciana.

Available vaccines - During the "D Day", the Basic Health Units throughout Pará offered more than 15 vaccines from the National Calendar, such as Polio, Pentavalent, Hepatitis A and B, Pneumococcal 10V, Meningococcal C and ACWY, Yellow Fever, Triple Viral, Rotavirus, Chickenpox, HPV, and Covid-19.

The mobilization continues until October 31, with services available at all UBS in the State. Parents and guardians can also check the vaccination status of children and adolescents through the Meu SUS Digital app, which provides alerts about upcoming doses, reminders, and real-time updates.
