Usina da Paz Icuí-Guajará celebrates four years and transforms lives in Ananindeua
Opened to the public on October 20, 2021, the unit was the first inaugurated in Pará and, in four years, has already ensured over one million services.

When she first arrived at Usina da Paz Prof. Amintas Pinheiro, Ananindeua resident Thays de Carvalho brought with her the desire and dream of having her own business. Today, after a year and a half attending the gastronomy and professional training courses offered at the state government’s citizenship complex, she celebrates the opportunity of having opened her own guaraná shop.
“Today I own my own business here at Usina da Paz, and it has been very successful. I am very grateful because everything I have started here. The Usina opened the doors for me to grow and ensure income for my family,” said the entrepreneur.
Thays' story of overcoming joins so many others that Usina da Paz has been promoting since its inauguration. Opened to the public on October 20, 2021, the unit in the Icuí-Guajará neighborhood was the first inaugurated in Pará. In four years, this public facility, installed in an area that previously suffered from a lack of opportunities, has already ensured over one million services and has established itself as a hub for services, training, and culture, transforming the lives of Ananindeua residents.

“Usina da Paz in Icuí-Guajará was the first in Pará and has become a symbol of the social transformation that the state government has been promoting in the territories. In four years, we have seen lives change, communities strengthen, and the public power be present in a continuous and welcoming manner. It is a concrete example that integrated policies close to the population generate real results,” stated the State Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga.
Operation and services - Usina da Paz offers over 70 types of integrated services and assistance in the areas of health, social assistance, education, sports, culture, leisure, and professional qualification. Among the most sought-after regular activities are sports activities, sewing and cutting courses, gastronomy, and computer classes, in addition to school reinforcement classes and basic citizenship and health services.

Retiree Nazaré Almeida found in gastronomy courses an opportunity to stay active, preserve her mental health, and learn more about Amazonian flavors. “Since I retired, I felt the need to do something to ensure extra income and keep myself active, because sometimes we become idle at home, which can even lead to depression. The Usina provided me with a new opportunity to learn, and I advise people to come participate because the benefits offered are very good,” she declared.
Social impact and security - Data from the State Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup) show that the presence of Usina da Paz has also contributed to significant and constant reductions in crime rates in the Icuí-Guajará territory in Ananindeua. From January to September 2025, cases of intentional lethal violent crimes decreased by 50%, while robbery cases fell by 7.5% in the area compared to the same period in 2024.

“There is no doubt that Usina da Paz, in the last four years, has transformed the lives of people in the region, where we have seen significant reductions in the number of thefts, robberies, and homicides. People notice the presence of the police and the state as a whole. Not only public security dominating the territory, providing safety, but the state present with services and opportunities,” pointed out the head of Segup, Ualame Machado.
