The Government of Pará delivers the Ourém waterfront, a new postcard of the municipality and region
The project represents another important milestone for infrastructure, urban development, tourism, and quality of life for the nearly 18,700 residents of the city

The government of Pará delivered, on the morning of this Friday (17), the waterfront of the municipality of Ourém, in the Rio Capim region. The project represents another important milestone for infrastructure, urban development, tourism, and quality of life for the nearly 18,700 residents of the city, who now have a new postcard for socializing and contemplation.
“Today, with great joy, we are delivering this important project, which expands the urbanization of the municipality's waterfront and makes this environment better, more beautiful, strengthening the economy, commerce, leisure, and tourism. This project also ensures the organization of the growth of the city of Ourém,” highlighted the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho.

With a total intervention area of 18,282.55 m², the project transformed the waterfront into a modern, safe, and accessible space, also promoting leisure, well-being, culture, and local economy for the population and visitors.
The waterfront of the municipality of Ourém gained new green areas with grass, concrete benches, and socializing spaces. The access roads to the site received deep drainage services, concrete block paving, and accessible sidewalks.

The entrepreneur Fátima Matos highlights the improvements and the new moment of the municipality's economy. “I have worked here for many years, and now everything is much better. Customers are enjoying it and coming more to the waterfront, especially on weekends. Everything is beautiful, clean, and organized, and we strive for the best service for both residents and those who come to know the waterfront. It has improved 100%!” says Fátima.

The waterfront features three new kiosks, and the other three that already existed underwent revitalization. Additionally, 28 functional boxes and public restrooms with accessibility were built, along with lighting throughout the entire space.

A resident of Ourém, Ronilza Reis evaluates that the waterfront project puts the municipality in the spotlight, providing a place that has become a new meeting point for the city and region, promoting increased tourism.
“This waterfront was the best thing that happened in Ourém. Lately, we have been having many tourists in the city, people from outside the state and from other regions, like São Miguel do Guamá, Capanema... Everything looks new, and people are enchanted. Those who didn't believe at first changed their minds as the project progressed. There is a lot of movement; everyone wants to know and stroll in this space,” emphasizes Ronilza Reis.
The Ourém Waterfront is a partnership between the government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Public Works (Seop), and the municipal government of Ourém. The investment was R$ 3,851,541.81.

Since 2019, the government of Pará has delivered 24 waterfront projects in municipalities. Currently, eleven are under construction, and the state's goal is to build 34 waterfronts by the end of 2026.

“The government of Pará continues to reaffirm its commitment to sustainable urban development and the improvement of public spaces in the municipalities of Pará. In Ourém, the waterfront enhances the city's scenic and tourist potential, encouraging local commerce, social interaction, and community well-being,” states the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.
