Government of Pará completes new cable-stayed bridge between Icoaraci and Outeiro and renews hope for those living and working in the region
The work, which will be delivered on October 18, has a length of 414 meters and a width of 10.5 meters, and generated 120 direct jobs and about 200 indirect ones.
Saturday (18) will be special for residents of the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The date will mark the delivery of the new cable-stayed bridge that connects Icoaraci to Outeiro, a project led by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics (Seinfra). The modern and safe structure represents a new milestone for urban mobility and the development of the region.
“We have completed the work that will transform mobility in the region, boost the local economy, and strengthen tourism. The new bridge is one of the most important infrastructure deliveries of the state, designed to offer comfort, safety, and more opportunities for everyone. It is an advancement that goes far beyond engineering — it is development, integration, and future,” emphasizes the State Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Adler Silveira.
With 100% of the services completed, the bridge raises the expectations of those who have been waiting for years for a modern and definitive connection between the two regions, like the self-employed Sigma Castelo Branco. “For us to cross here, we have to take a bus from far away, and it takes too long. Now, with the new bridge, we will be able to walk. It will help a lot,” he says, excited about the upcoming delivery.
The new bridge has a length of 414 meters and a width of 10.5 meters, being supported by steel cables (stays) connected to a central mast, following modern engineering standards that combine aesthetics, safety, and durability. The work generated 120 direct jobs and about 200 indirect ones, boosting the local economy and benefiting workers from various sectors.
The mason Deivison Roberto, who worked on the construction and lives next to Outeiro, takes pride in being part of this historic moment. “The expectation is great, not only mine but of the entire population. This bridge will provide enormous benefits, shorten the distance to the center, and increase the flow of tourism. It is very gratifying,” he emphasizes.
Also closely following the progress of the work was Edson Barrerinhas. The resident of Icoaraci brought his six-year-old grandson Antony to capture the moment. “I have family living next to Outeiro, and it will be much easier to reach them,” he says, with a smile of someone who already sees the transformation that the new bridge will bring.
The structure, which already stands out in the landscape, is a modern cable-stayed bridge designed to ensure smooth traffic, safety, and durability, in addition to enhancing the urban scenery of the Metropolitan Region of Belém, representing an architectural landmark. The accesses are completed, and the teams are now executing the paving, signaling, installation of lighting poles, metal guardrails, and protective barriers, steps that precede the final delivery.
