The State Secretariat of Tourism (Setur) is present at ABAV Expo 2025, held from October 8 to 10 at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro. Considered the largest tourism event in Latin America, the fair brings together thousands of professionals from the national and international tourism trade for an intense program of business, training, and destination promotion. The organizers expect a 30% growth compared to the previous edition, with an estimated attendance of up to 45,000 visitors.

Pará is participating with a 50-square-meter booth, which houses seven co-exhibitors, including receptive services, accommodation, and tourist experiences from the Marajó, Tapajós, and Santa Izabel regions. In addition to showcasing products and itineraries, the space welcomes the public with a gastronomic program that presented the best of Amazonian cuisine. Pará chef Gil Souto, from the island of Combu, conducted two cooking show editions, highlighting the preparation of traditional tacacá and fillet with Marajó cheese. On the second day, the menu features pirarucu and maniçoba fritters, combining tradition and innovation at the table.

Pará's participation in the fair focused on strengthening the state's tourism promotion and expanding its presence in national and international markets. According to Setur technician Conceição Silva, the first day of the event was marked by important institutional agendas. "Yesterday, Setur participated in two agendas as a member of the Integrated Amazon Routes (RAI), a meeting with the president of Embratur [Brazilian Tourism Agency], and subsequently, the launch of the Amazon Brand, which took place at the Rondônia booth. Today, we will have a meeting with representatives from Latam to discuss issues related to the promotion of the state, and in the afternoon, we will participate in the launch of the Combu Route, an initiative by Sebrae Nacional and the Ministry of Tourism," she highlighted.

ABAV Expo is recognized as the main meeting point among the largest players in the sector and the primary distribution channel for Brazilian tourism - travel agents. In this edition, about 45% of visitors were agents, responsible for mediating more than 60% of the country's tourism business. The fair also features approximately two thousand exhibiting brands, both national and international, showcasing various products, services, and destinations. The event also hosts the ABAV Buyers Club, considered the largest tourism business hub in Latin America, with the participation of 90 national and foreign buyers from the MICE, corporate, luxury, and DMC segments.

The event provides qualified visibility to Pará's destinations and expands the possibilities for new commercial and institutional partnerships. The ABAV Pará caravan was also present at the booth, strengthening the integration between the public sector and the private sector in promoting regional tourism products.

For entrepreneur Simone Pereira, CEO of Hotel Marajó, participating in ABAV Expo is an essential opportunity to strengthen connections and highlight the Marajó destination. "The presence of Hotel Marajó at ABAV is a fundamental strategy because here we are connected with major national and international companies. It is a qualified networking opportunity, where we reconnect with partners, make new business deals, and keep up with market trends. Pará's booth is beautiful and reinforces tourism in our region, highlighting Marajó as a qualified destination with the potential to welcome national and international visitors," she stated.

Simone also emphasized the importance of the state's institutional presence at major sector fairs. "The government of Pará has been investing and being present at these events, and this strengthens the growth of tourism. It is the public-private partnership that drives the sector and allows us to proudly represent the island of Marajó and the Destination Pará, bringing our diversity to the showcase of Brazil and the world," she added.

The strategy of participating in fairs and events by the government of Pará strengthens its image as one of the main emerging destinations in the Brazilian Amazon, uniting nature, culture, gastronomy, and hospitality.

For the State Secretary of Tourism, Eduardo Costa, Pará's presence is a continuous action of positioning the destination in the global market. "ABAV Expo is a strategic space for relationships and promotion, allowing us to show Brazil and the world the strength of Pará tourism. Each action, each meeting, and each partnership established here represents real business opportunities, attracting visitors and strengthening our economy. Pará is experiencing a special moment of expansion and consolidation as a sustainable destination, and we will continue to work to turn this potential into concrete results for our people," he affirmed.
