General Hospital of Tailândia launches campaign for Pink October
The goal is to encourage prevention and care for women's health, scheduling 400 mammograms just this month
In a climate of awareness and care, the General Hospital of Tailândia (HGT), in southeastern Pará, launched the Pink October campaign on Wednesday (8), bringing information and prevention to the female population of the municipality. The action, promoted by the Humanization Working Group (GTH), aims to schedule 400 mammogram exams this month.

The campaign is focused on women's health, encouraging the prevention of breast and cervical cancers. The mobilization has the theme "Come Take Care of Yourself," proposed by the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), in order to stimulate early diagnosis, promote educational actions, and strengthen the support network and self-care among women served by HGT and the local community.
The first action of the campaign took place at Supermercado Mateus, where HGT professionals conducted educational and interactive lectures, addressing the importance of early diagnosis and recognizing warning signs. Participants also learned, in a practical way, the technique of breast self-examination.
In addition to the guidance, the team checked vital signs and scheduled exams, with an emphasis on mammography, the main objective of this year's campaign. According to the coordinator of GTH, Luciene Dias, the campaign aims to ensure that women have easier access to exams and information. "We also want them to become multipliers of this guidance, bringing knowledge to their families and communities," emphasized Luciene.
At the opening of the action, about 40 mammogram exams were scheduled, ensuring that participants have quick and safe follow-up.

Approval - Gabriela Souza, 43 years old, one of the participants, stressed the importance of the initiative. She learned about the activity through advertising in the supermarket and took the opportunity to invite family members, including her mother, grandmother, and sister-in-law. "It is very important to take care of health and have regular exams. Many women still feel ashamed or afraid, but prevention is always better than facing problems later. Campaigns like this help to inform and also encourage others to take care of themselves," said Gabriela.
Data - From January to September 2025, HGT has already performed more than 800 mammograms, establishing itself as a reference in providing the exam in the region. During the Pink October campaign of 2024, the unit performed over 400 exams, reinforcing its commitment to the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.
For the executive director of HGT, Eduardo Silva, the campaign also reflects the strategic management and commitment of HGT to the health of the population. "Investing in campaigns like Pink October is part of our planning to expand access to exams and health services. Prevention saves lives and strengthens the Hospital's role as a regional reference, ensuring that more women have quick and safe follow-up," stated Eduardo Silva.
The Pink October campaign is a prevention and awareness action regarding breast and cervical cancers, aimed at users, professionals, and residents of the community. Women interested in having mammograms should visit the HGT Exam Sector, from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 11 am, and from 2 pm to 5 pm, presenting a medical referral, SUS card, and personal documents.
