Housing program "Your House" benefits more than 150 thousand families in Pará
In the last six years, investment in dignified housing has exceeded R$ 1.3 billion across all state integration regions
The government of Pará, through the Housing Company of Pará (Cohab), has surpassed the number of 150 thousand families benefited by the housing program "Your House" throughout Pará. Intended for the acquisition of construction materials for building one's own house and for paying the mason's labor, the benefit can reach R$ 21 thousand. The aid must be applied, mandatorily, to the construction of the house, renovation, expansion, or adaptation of the dwelling in cases of People with Disabilities (PcD).
Retiree Joana Célia Farias, who lives in Soure, in Marajó, is completing the construction of her house at almost 70 years of age. Maria Madalena Souza, a resident of Ananindeua, also received the second installment of the benefit to complete the construction of her new house with the check she received last month. They are just two examples of women benefited by the program, which guarantees dignified housing.
“I lived in a little wooden house, which leaked a lot, had already tilted to the side, but the worst were the rats, which, due to the conditions of the house, had infested it. Today, my little house is made of masonry, with a living room, two bedrooms, and a kitchen. One part is plastered, but I am much better, without a doubt,” said retiree Joana Farias.
Madalena Souza says that her mother gave her part of the land of the house so that Madalena could start the construction. “Now, I will finish with the greatest happiness in the world, because having my house is a lifelong dream, not just mine, but of my entire family,” she celebrated.
The "Your House" program was created by Governor Helder Barbalho through decree 8.967 of December 30, 2019. The president of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro, emphasizes that "Your House" is one of the largest programs to combat housing deficit in Brazil. “From 2019 to 2025, 154,973 families from all integration regions of Pará were benefited, without distinction, an investment from the government of Pará of R$ 1.3 billion, which reflects the work of Governor Helder Barbalho and our vice-governor, Hana Ghassan, for those who need it most, bringing dignity to Pará homes,” points out Pioneiro.
