Igepps promotes financial and pension education for civil servants and insured individuals
Planning for retirement, well-being, and mental health are part of the program aimed at the transition from active service to inactivity

Highlighting information as a tool for empowerment and autonomy, the Institute of Pension Management and Social Protection of the State (Igepps) held this Thursday the 3rd State Week of Awareness for Financial and Pension Education, aiming to raise awareness among active civil servants, retirees, and pensioners about the importance of planning for the future with tranquility and security.
Lectures with specialists in personal finance, investments, public pension, retirement planning, as well as topics related to well-being and mental health, directly linked to financial security, were part of the event's program.
"Reflecting on how our consumption choices impact not only our wallets but also our well-being and even the future of the planet. It was a very enriching event," pointed out economist Lais Lima, who participated in the plenary on consumption, sustainability, and quality of life, alongside Alexandre Damasceno, a doctor in financial education and president of the Financial Education Group of the Amazon (Gefam), linked to UFPA.
“This third Pará pension meeting on financial education is fundamental because it contributes to providing information, to alerting people regarding their pension and the care of their money. It is important because it allows state servants to have a more attentive view regarding their money and their future concerning retirement.”

Another highlight panel addressed the importance of pension planning so that public servants can make a smooth transition to retirement.
"It is very interesting to discuss these topics, reflecting together with the audience about strategies, tools, challenges, and opportunities we have when talking about preparation for retirement," emphasized Igepps' pension technician, Marcella Takeshita.
It is common for public servants to reach retirement without knowledge about the process to request the benefit. "We clarify what is necessary to do from the beginning of the career in public service until the moment of retirement, to achieve this right more calmly," highlighted Luísa Porto, a lawyer specialized in the Special Social Security System.
There was also a debate on the importance of psychosocial preparation in the transition to retirement. "We used metaphors like coffee and pupunha to reflect on the different rhythms of life: the fast-paced time of work (coffee, caffeine, energy, hurry) and the slower, matured time, like the cooking of pupunha, which can characterize retirement," explained Igepps psychologist, Luzia Poça.
"We emphasize the importance of thinking about old age from youth, to have better chances of enjoying this phase with better financial, socio-emotional, and relational conditions,” concluded Poça.

When the work cycle ends, symptoms of anxiety and depression may appear. It is important to keep the mind active to protect health and prevent cognitive decline, explained psychologist Juliana Galvão.
"Courses, hobbies, volunteering, and cultural activities are not just distractions; they are ways to continue learning and feeling better every day, which includes new discoveries and life experiences," warns Galvão.
The event was open to the public and also featured the participation of representatives from state agencies and guests from partner institutions.
Server Sabrina de Oliveira, coordinator of the Igepps agency in Castanhal, considered the event important. "As a young server, starting a professional journey, I understood that pension and financial planning is essential for a successful journey ahead,” said Sabrina.
For the president of Igepps, Washington Albuquerque, the State Week is an opportunity to bring the Institute closer to society and expand the dialogue on financial responsibility and pension sustainability.
“Raising awareness about the importance of planning for the future is one of Igepps' missions. With this initiative, we want to help civil servants make more conscious decisions about their financial and pension lives as they leave active service,” highlighted Albuquerque.
The 3rd edition of the Week is a permanent public policy aimed at valuing the server.
